Description Now, for those who weren't following this status post...

...I'd like to mention that it's pretty much been a whole decade since George Carlin's death.  Wow.

George Carlin was a comedian in his lifetime.  One of his best known acts was the "Seven Dirty Words you can't say on Television of Radio" (which was subtly referenced in the "SpongeBob" episode "Sailor Mouth").  Carlin also had a lot of interesting things to say in his stand-up routines.  One particular one I liked was when he made fun of the saying "fine and dandy" (in fact, the expression pictured above was redrawn from the awkward smile he made when he said he was "indeed highly dandy", which is a picture I wanted to draw for a long time).  Another thing I liked was when George Carlin talked about how society focuses too much on our differences and not enough on our similarities.

Since George Carlin often... well, told it like it is, I could see him having made fun of the "victim-blaming" aspect of a conflict in which said victim retaliated after being pushed to their breaking point by a particular individual and got all the blame for it while the instigator got none (insert joke about the most infamous "Arthur" episode here).  I could especially see Carlin making fun of the "just a little kid" excuse and pretty much any other excuse that is clearly just a shortcut to blame the victim over the antagonist... but enough about that.  Let's go back to the main subject. *Ahem!*

Carlin also was the first American narrator for the children's television program "Thomas the Tank Engine", only succeeding former Beatle Ringo Starr who narrated the show since it premiered in 1984 until 1990 when he left to return to his music career (as a side note, a man by the name of Michael Angelis took over as UK narrator at around the same time that Carlin took over as US narrator).  Carlin also re-narrated the first two seasons of TTTE for "Shining Time Station" - the show that initially brought "Thomas" to the US - but left the series in 1997, after Season 4, to continue his career in comedy.

I remember some time shortly after Carlin died that I read a comment on YouTube for a tribute video to him, in which the person typing the comment thought to themselves that they wanted to see him while he was still alive... only to then find out the next day that it would never happen.  So the weird thing is that at the time this person said they wanted to see Carlin live, he was dying elsewhere; they even said so in the comment.

R.I.P. George Carlin (1937-2008) May Joe Bless You (for that is what a true George Carlin fan would say)

I like how he described religion: "I really tried to believe that there is a god who loves us very much and keeps a close eye on things. But I gotta tell you, the older you get, the more you look around, something is f---ed up." His dropping of f-bombs really made me laugh. That and R. Lee Ermey on Mail Call.

I've never been Fine and Dandy at the same time either, I have to admit! XD

Hard to believe that it's been a full 10 years now, since he passed away. He left quite the legacy behind him, when he left us. Hope you're in a better place now, George!
