Description The engines all worried that The Fat Controller would be leaving Sodor due to the fact that things were being removed from his office.  They knew that his predecessors had left the railway.  But they never actually left Sodor.  So the engines decided to work extra hard so that he wouldn't have to leave.  But things eventually got out of hand, and The Fat Controller decided to settle matters once and for all.  He decided to have a meeting with the engines an their crews.  With him came who appeared to be an important business woman.

TFC: All right.  Now I've heard that a lot of you engines are worrying that I'm going to be leaving Sodor.
Percy: Oh, yes, sir.  That's what we've heard, sir.
TFC: We'll, I've decided to confirm that this is not true.  However, I would like to announce that I am retiring...

The engines' faces fell.

TFC: But I am going to leave you all in good hands.  You may all remember my daughter, Emily Helen Hatt.  She has been interested in this railway and all my engines ever since she was in her late teen years.
Ms. Hatt: Indeed I have.  I'd like to assure you all that all that I do have my best interests in the railway at heart.
...
...

Well, I don't know where to go from there.  I'm thinking of having Ms. Hatt make a speech to the engines about her father and how "The Fat Controller", while once a nickname, had since come to be a title that shows that the engines have a great deal of respect for their controller (and on a side note, I do intend to address the confusion between her and Emily the engine, since the latter also exists in my headcanon).

The two engines pictured are (as most fans know) James the Red Engine and Henry the Green Engine.

Yes, this is an adaptation of the CGI episode, "Goodbye, Fat Controller".  As I've said in a journal entry, I've decided to rewrite this story to have Sir (Stephen) Topham Hatt leave for real, but not away from Sodor.  No, he'd just be retiring and having his daughter, Emily Helen Hatt, take his place.  You see, as much as I like wildnorwester 's "Sodor: The Modern Years" special, "Winds of Change", I thought it would be too complicated to adapt into my headcanon, seeing as I'm planning to adapt "Day of the Diesels" for my headcanon.  So I went with the somewhat simpler solution of adapting this story instead (of course, that does leave the question as to how the visit of an engine called "Tornado" - who is a real engine - would play out, since Gordon wouldn't be at the works at that point).

Also, I do have to wonder why they would worry about TFC leaving Sodor when they've know his predecessors (Sir Topham Hatt I and Sir Charles Topham Hatt, respectively) had retired.  Maybe something unusual turned up to make them think that Stephen Topham Hatt would be leaving.

And you may also note that I used some grey for Sir Topham's hair (even though he had no hair in the TV series), to make him look older.

If anyone can help me with additional dialogue, please note me (as usual).

Umm... two things:

1) Her name is actually Emily Helen Hatt.
2) Calling her "hot" is kind of raw at this point, considering that WildNorWester had just closed his site for good.  I'm aware you likely didn't know of this, but it's kind of a bad idea to say either way.

What about pretty? Can I say she's pretty?

Yes, you can say that.  But just remember what I said.

This has actually given me ideas about rewriting Goodbye Fat Controller.

I may try to cross over that episode with a T&TMRR adaption. Sir Topham is on holiday and appoints his eldest son, Richard Hatt, in charge for a while. Emily and Charles volunteer to help along the sidelines and... well, it's still a bit sketchy.
