Description This work is a tribute/parody of Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell" album -- with the Gargoyles characters. (I even won a prize at Gathering 2005 with this one!)

"Gargoyles" characters are the property of Disney and Buena Vista Television.

Do these two clashing topics have anything in common with each other?

My concept was this: It was inspired by Brooklyn's motorcycle riding in "Temptation" and the guy on the motorcycle (blasting out of the ground) on the album cover of Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell." I just thought that this Gargoyle would look right in this setting. Just one person's opinion.

No prob. I am a fan of Meatloaf and a gargoyles fan too.

I've got the first season of the show on dvd.

FYI, they have the first half of the second season (up to the ep "Shadows of the Past") on DVD, too.

Oh, that is fantastic! Very appropriate with Brook on the motorcycle. It's gorgeous, looks very painterly, what medium is it?

Thanks! Both of my "Brooklyn" works were made with a combination of colored pencil, marker, and acrylics. When I'm not doing the digital stuff, that's my favorite traditional method to use.

Okay, the colors are so rich, I wondered. I've used colored pencils over markers plenty, but never put acrylics into the mix.

I usually use a wash of acrylic or marker, then put the details in in pencil. Make sure you use a sturdy paper or bristol board (80 to 100 lb.), to avoid excessive wrinkling.

I'd been using markers that way, to get a base coat of color. I'll have to try this, thanks!

No prob. You'll probably save a lot on pencils if you do the large areas this way.

Enheh. Just when I'm on a project where I keep running them into little stubs...

Thanks! That gives me ideas for airbrushing/oil painting on motorcycles and choppers.
