Sometimes this really can be true, just as every fandom has those "hardcore" people.
Though, most of the time kids actually really love furries because they're "different" from

i remember one time... I went over my girl firnds house wearing a (furry) costume.she did not like it. and she broke up with me and i could not be takend seriously because i was dress as a furry... i do not know why she did not like it because she had a shit load of furrys in her pc documant in her picture files... an hour after the hole brake up thing i went over to a collage party and lets just say they liked my (furry) costume... good thing i was wearing a mask the entire time while i was there with them drunk hot girls...

Yeah, sometimes it's healthy to go a bit un-PC (which, weirdly enough, also stands for the "Progressive Conservative" political party here in Canada. Yeah. We're moving forward but standing still!)
I don't have a problem with most furries. Most of them just like anthro characters and dressing up as them for fun (or as a spiritual exercise). There's just that small perverted population that's given the whole group a bad name. But then, isn't there always someone who'll distort what a group's all about in the eyes of the general public?
