TRDL 2016 Series, No. 05 – Luke Cage
This one was done for the TRDL Art Jam, the subject being Luke Cage.I’m sure I drew original Luke Cage back when I was a kid, just out of slavish devotion to the Marvel handbooks, though I don’t remember it exactly. I do remember using Cage to kick the asses of several players in the RPG, however. Although what I DO recall was doing what the Bendis-era Marvel ended up doing: the reasonably rational (redundant redundant) approach of putting him in a black T and jeans and shaving his head. Of course, there were, and have been, a million other directions to go in updating his decidedly 70s /Shaft look. This time, though, I decided to try my hand at the original look. All I really changed was the tint and saturation of his blue and yellows… now that that’s been done, I’m hankering to draw the Mike Colter version.
