Description Cetiosaurus oxoniensis
Named by Richard Owen, 1842
Diet: Herbivore (Low to medium-high browser)
Type: Sauropodomorph sauropod dinosaur (Cetiosaurid)
Size: 52 feet (16 meters) long and 12 tons (Note: the size is just estimate as it was known from incomplete remains)
Region: Europe (England, UK and possibly France) and possibly North Africa (Morocco)
Age: Middle Jurassic (168.3 to 166.1 million BC; Bathonian)
Enemies: Theropods such as Megalosaurus.
Episode: Walking with Dinosaurs Pilot (vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/w… 41.media.tumblr.com/3e9576a988… )
Info: The first of the sauropods to be discovered and described, this primitive member of a group of giant, long-necked, long-tailed herbivorous dinosaurs that includes the largest creatures that ever lived was described by Sir Richard Owen (who first coined the term "dinosaur" around that time) in which he thought it was a gigantic, aquatic reptile with backbones similar to a whale's (Hence the name, meaning "Whale Lizard"), but it was in 1869 that it was now considered to be a dinosaur. Like Megalosaurus, Cetiosaurus was also considered a so-called 'wastebasket taxon' as many sauropod remains found in Europe were once attributed to it, until they turned out to be different and considered their own genus.

Note: Based on svpow.files.wordpress.com/2014…
The full coloration of it is speculative since only the neck and head of the animal was only shown.

So yeah, Walking with Dinosaurs was made into a pilot by Tim Haines in 1996 that was 6 minutes long and depicts prehistoric fauna from Jurassic England, akin to Cruel Sea: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNgQNZ…

I didn't even think about this until now:

Are you gonna do stuff from the Paleozoic and Cenozoic? And will you do stuff from Prehistoric Park ?

Also, this might be of interest for you: jplegacy.org/board/showthread.…

You ready for it? Nigel Marvin has said on his Twitter page that he plans to make a new dinosaur documentary this year.

Life is complete.

Yeah the Paleozoic and Cenozoic, but real soon! I'm not sure about Prehistoric Park, I was thinking about! I love that show as well!

Really, a new dinosaur documentary Nigel Marvin said its made! That's sweet!    I was even hoping Walking with Dinosaurs gets rebooted! They really need to!

Yeah, I hope you don't feel rushed to push out all these things, you are already doing some great work!

Yep, he said that he plans to make it. People have speculated that it is going to be Prehistoric Park season 2, but I personally hope it is a new episode of Chased By Dinosaurs . Really anything about dinosaurs with Nigel Marvin it is fine by me! Worst case scenario is that it gets cancelled or something... lets hope that doesn't happen.

I personally sort of equate Planet Dinosaur as a Walking with Dinosaurs reboot, and the companion book actually says that it is at the very least inspired by it. But if we could get a legit, 6 episode Walking with Dinosaurs 2 I think I would go berserk. If they did this, my preference would be if they used 6 completely new settings, I don't want to see them do what they already did.

Oh now I am getting my hopes up! I gotta stop talking about this or I might explode with hype!

Awesome work right there. This of course leaves:

Hybodus
Metriorynchus
Leedsicthyes
Rhamphorhynchus
Monolophosaurus
and 1 Ammonite.

Yeah, they looked more like brachiosaurs than actual cetiosaurs.

Yeah.

It wasn't even a Eustreptospondylus. More like an overgrown monitor lizard.

It was from the Trilogy of Life, the making of the Walking with... series
