Bahamut Lagoon fanart!
I've been sick since Friday but I've been drawing heaps, and upon stumbling unto some awesome Japanese fanart of the old SNES game Bahamut Lagoon, I was inspired to do a quick one of my own ^_^
On the left is Byuu and on the right is Rush. They're two of my favourite characters from the game.
Coloured with a mouse on Paint Shop Pro. About 6 or 7 hours.

D'aw, this picture is so bright and happy and cute. I love the warmth in here, both in their emotions and in the colours.
I like the fading rainclouds in the background, they give the picture more depth than if it were just bright =3
I also like the birdy, tis so cute.

The bloom effect style of highlighting always looks cool. Nice work with the shadows as well.

Okay...this may be a stupid question....but how do you get the curves so well...like the hair going down the face and such. I find it hard not to scwibble it with my mouse...like im trying to do the same thing with a pencil but i'm holding it by the eraser.

It's pencil-drawn, but I draw fast, so long lines often end up fluid. I also have the ability to write very very small, so I can do fine detail. I suppose it's a combination of practice and technique. Try drawing circles repeatedly for practice in drawing round lines.

So you draw...scan...finalize in photoshop or some other program that I cannot afford?...makes sense...

Though I like how Byuu's face came out, it's really gentle and sweet, and her eyes are very beautiful. The armor on both is freaking awesome, but I like Rush's better.. probably 'cause his started out cooler :B
The dragon silhouette is dandy, too. The rock-formation-things on the left look like a photograph.

Yer it's a turn-based RPG, and you move groups of units around a map into strategic positions and fight enemies that also move around :3

Yes! But you can cast magic from a distance, and dragons fight alongside you with AI, and a single figure on the map can be up to four units ;D
