It was later that evening in the Underground lab at the Crowne estate when Cynthia found herself on the computer frustrated as usual when Cassandra entered in her Cynthis outfit.
“Looks like we have something to do tonight Cassie”.
“Well anything is better then patrolling the city for trouble”, she quips back. “What’s up for tonight”?
“Seems Invictus is not talking about her travel arrangements. They are trying to pin a Terrorist charge on McGuire, but like a good little girl, she’s clamming up”.
“So we are going to question her ourselves”?
“She won’t talk to me, and I doubt she would talk to you disguised as McGuire. So I did some back tracking, the Triton/Grull corporate jet returned from Tangiers the night she was spotted in Angels Falls. If we pull the flight records directly from the plane, we might have the evidence we need”.
“Sounds simple enough, the Jet is at the airport”, answers Cassandra. “By the way, have you seen your mother”?
“Yes during dinner, she sure seems a lot care free”.
“Care free, and forgiving from the conversation we had on the way home”.
“What do you mean”?
“On the way to the Laboratory, she was discussing breaking up GLOBEX, and cutting the Genetics funding. But afterwards, she was praising Dr Sorenson’s work and Jeffrey McGuire”.
Cynthia pauses as she turned to Cassandra with a somewhat shocked expression. “That is unusual”.
“Wait, it gets worse. I got the impression she doesn’t realize I am an android, and was excited about our little Party invitation”.
“You told her about the frat Party”?
“Not intentionally, she found the card, and seemed delighted”.
“That doesn’t sound like mother. Do you think she’s been drugged”?
“I did a contact scan of her, and there is nothing unusual in her system. Everything checks out, but still her behavior has me questioning my own scans”.
“We’ll take a look into this tomorrow, for now, we have a plane to catch”.
