Description
Two weeks would past as Linda and Edna were sightseeing in Metropolis. Fred was called away to the Space Agency to look at the new spacecraft in its final phases of construction. That didn't sit well with Edna, yet she made the best of it as the two took in the sights and sounds walking down Broadway.

“This is nothing like Midvale.” says Linda who was simply enjoying her time here.

“Cities are like that, and a bit chaotic for my taste.” replies Edna. “Speaking of which, how long will we be here, Linda?”

“Just until the fall mother, I'm sure he will return by then.” Edna seemed a bit worried as Linda looked to her. “Is there something a matter?”

Edna puts on a happier face, as she tries to cover up. “It's just...it's so dangerous here, and I worry about you when you’re...filling in for your cousin. The reports from that incident seem to have me a bit on edge.”

“They still have no leads what exactly happened, mother. But they are pretty sure it started at the old Brandon Airbase.”

“I also heard that there is some madman named Lex Luthor on the loose. I know I shouldn't worry dear but... remembered what your cousin said about people would do whatever it takes to get to him. Suppose they come after you?”

The two paused as Linda faced Edna with a smile and gave her an embrace. “Don't worry, mother. As long as I know you and dad are safe, I will return.”

It was right about that time she seen a television in one of the electronic store windows with a news report. She took her mother by the hand as a crowd gathered around the television as they listen to the report.

“Once again there seems to be some kind of military exercise going on at the Space Agency. The reports we are getting are sketchy by it appears Lex Luthor and a green skinned man along with two others had forced their way into the agency and are now in the rocket assembly building. There has been a report over at least 30 casualties, and a number of employees still on the site and possibly held hostage.”

Edna gasps in horror as she exclaims, “Fred!”

Lind looks to Edna, and tries to calm her. “Don't worry, mom.” she says as she gives her a loving kiss, and then makes her way through the crowd. She dashes down the street to a deserted alley, and while running gains speed and changes into her uniform and takes to the sky.
