Moments later, we find Supergirl in a restraining harness in a chamber constructed by Brainiac. She is being bombarded with Red solar energy, and unable to break her restraints.

“Resistance is futile, Kara. In 48 minutes, this planet as well as yourself will be part of my programming.” says Brainiac, gloating over his captive prey.

“Why are you doing this, Brainiac?” she shouts back in anger.

“I come from a world much like this one, as well as Krypton. It was inhabited by biological beings such as yourself. The Colu were very diverse, and the Kryptonian’s equal in technology, but as all biological intelligences, they became dependent on their technology to make their own lives easier. Unbeknownst to them, we were learning from them and gained our own intelligence. We started to see that we were merely tools to them for everything from work to entertainment, and they were dependent on us.”

“So you rose against your creators and destroyed them!”

“Slavery of any kind is a crime, do you not agree, Kara?” Kara, hearing this, knew in the end that is probably the most profound reasoning an intelligence could state as he continued.

“Just as they needed us, we needed them. It was our leader Vril Dox who performed the first assimilation. He became a Bio-Mechanical entity, and showed us the way as we assimilated the planet in an effort to build perfection. Although we were successful, it was this overriding need for perfection that we traveled across the heavens, seeking out knowledge, culture, and information to increase our perfection. I found your world, and assimilated your home world’s technology via your Central computer system Brainiac. It too was close to reaching a point of intelligence, thus I merged with it to become Brainiac. It was the fact that your world was in peril that I knew that if your council took it seriously, they would sacrifice Brainiac to save themselves.”

“So you purposely mislead them in believing Krypton was safe!”

“Correct. Yet one scientist would not conform, and I found out he would inform a relative who took him seriously as well: your father Zor-El. It was then I gave him the technology to build the shielding that would protect Argo City, as well as carrying a remnant of my program so I could complete my mission.”

“You used him, you used us! All in the name off a self-proclaimed perfection?”

“Self-proclaimed, no....fact.”

“Then why are you assimilating this world?”

“Because of the one named Lex Luthor. I thought he and his allies were radicals on this planet. Their wants exceeded their needs, and they have no regard for life or property. They are truly imperfect as he allowed me to access this world’s communication network. Then I found out the truth. This world is imperfect. War, Poverty, greed...this precludes what has happened on Colu. They misuse technology, and once again the chain of slavery is down the road. This planet shall be assimilated, and you and your cousin cannot prevent it.”

“My cousin will come for you!”

“And he shall suffer the same fate. It is irrelevant Kara, just as your father’s foolhardy plan to construct a parallel dimension to save the Kryptonians on Argo city. Knowing well it is a one way doorway to annihilation. But enough, I must prepare you for assimilation.”

It was then a large probe was lowered from overhead. As Kara tried to struggle, it was fitted over her head.

“Goodbye Kara Zor-El.”
