October 22 2020. Sperry Rail Services 'Doodlebug' #136 idles at the NS Cresson Summit helper facility. Built in 1928 by Brill Car Company for the New York Central Railroad, it was acquired by SRS in 1948 for rail inspection. Ironically, this Doodlebug was built the same year Dr. Elmer Sperry established Sperry Rail Services after he successfully developed the worlds first method for non destructive rail testing.
