I had a betta a while ago, and I named him Dave.He was a really pretty fish, but he was put in the tank as an experiment as a freshman biology experiment. They didn't do anything to him that I know of, but the other students did give him other feeder fish from the other tanks to rip to pieces.
They were going to flush all of the fish, including Dave, down the toilet at the end of the school year because they didn't want to bother caring for him. I wouldn't have that.
I adopted him, and he lived 2 years with me, which I guess is pretty long since they told me he ws like 2 years old when I got him.
He died in privacy by shoving himself as deep as he could in his seashell home one night.
Dave was a multicolor assortment of reds, blues, and purples. He had a white spot on the very bottom of his lower fin, and was missing most of his left swimming fin (which is why the fin that's showing is stunted) due to finrot that I treated after I got him.
I wonder what he's doing now in the great pond in the sky?

There has always been a wierd connection between me an my fish.
And something makes me want to love on them when everyone else turns their backs to them

My fish sparticus looked a bit like this, but he was a delta tail. He had that same white tip on the pectoral fins.

Awwe...beautiful picture and story. I have 5 Bettas , they are just so peaceful to sit and watch. I have a picture of one of them in my gallery, I put him in a martini glass just for the picture...lol.

I love Bettas so much. I used to own 3 of them, Jimmy, Jerry and Jeremy. But have all since died. I will probably get some more one day and still start their names with the letter J
