Came across these nicely shaped rocks when approaching this lake, from there it was rather easy to get a nice composition.

lovely, it's cool to see a shot like this, I know personally I have a habit of trying to make everything light and visible. I always worry that it won't be found appealing if it isn't vivid and eye-catchingly bright.

It does depend on the conditions, for this one I did darken it a little, but it was quite dark to begin with when exposed correctly.
I generally just look at the moon I want to achieve and adjust accordingly.

This definitely instills some wanderlust, my locale just doesn't have spectacular sites like this, hopefully I can take a shot as visually satisfying as this.

It is all about placing elements in a visually pleasing way, you can do that in even the most boring of location, it may be more challenging, but always possible.
