Description "So, are we a couple, now?"

"What? No! Of course not! Remember, I told you when we met; I just having fun with you. No commitments."

"Yeah, but that was over a year ago. And you take me back to the barracks for every holiday, and last time you were saying something about having a kid."

"...So? You're always fun, and I just don't want t waste a night with someone who isn't. That doesn't make a 'couple' or anything..."

In the Virago societies of Vistallah, there is no place for men. Men are expected to be big strong warriors, but since their god has made the Viragos bigger, stonger, and even more warrior-ish than men, that leaves no role for actual men in Virago culture.

Of course, Viragos are still allowed interact with men from outside thier culture. Most have fun with whatever man catches thier fancy. Some individuals may even form attachments with specific men. But such relationships are purely informal, and are not sanctified or acknowledged in any specific way.

"So if we're not 'together', you wouldn't mind if I started dating other people, would you?"
"Hmmm. Well, I suppose it's cruel for me to monopolize you."
"Really? I mean, I was just talking hypothetic-"
"I'll talk with some of the other Viragos I know. They might be free tonight. You wouldn't mind if I joined in, would you?"
"....No. No I would not mind at all."

...That's actually a pretty accurate look at how I picture things happening in most Virago baracks.

Sounds like someone's afraid of commitment. XD

Afraid? Nah. Just doesn't see any value to it.

Man, that has got to sting on some twisted romantic level...

But I wonder what would happen if a Virago did start a serious relationship?

TriffRaff In reply to mzhamma [2012-07-31 00:39:20 +0000 UTC]

...Actually, this is a 'serious relationship'--sort of. The Virago has one guy who she likes and sticks with...It's just that her culture just has no way of fomalizing the relationship, and that leaves her unable to recognize said relationship. But she still acts on it, in her own way...

...Naturally, this leaves the guy quite confused.

I'll say, but then again if females were simple, guys would be able to get any one they wanted. (no offense meant to the female population)

So it's the same as amazons?

Neoninja2 In reply to GoldGecko [2012-07-30 18:46:02 +0000 UTC]

I think it's more like Virago have no 'caste' or 'need' for men and the Amazon just "don't like men" because of "what their goddess said"

GoldGecko In reply to Neoninja2 [2012-07-30 20:03:47 +0000 UTC]

What makes their goddesses different?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

TriffRaff In reply to GoldGecko [2012-07-31 00:33:45 +0000 UTC]

Neoninja's pretty much right. Amazon culture considers men as an enemy to be avoided and/or punished, while Virago culture just considers them outsiders. The difference is the Amazon patron goddess was angry and bitter--and wants her followers to be similarly angry, while the Virago patron god is just a warrior--who wants his followers to also be warriors.

So you can follow him as a man?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TriffRaff In reply to GoldGecko [2012-08-01 01:30:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, anyone can follow him, but only women who are inducted into a specific cult (at birth) get the enhanced size and stregnth of a Virago...

GoldGecko In reply to TriffRaff [2012-08-01 06:54:51 +0000 UTC]

Why not men?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TriffRaff In reply to GoldGecko [2012-08-01 13:34:14 +0000 UTC]

Because that wouldn't be as fun to draw---no, wait, I mean---because the warrior god doesn't find that as alluring, and figures that men shouldn't need the extra help.

Well, I still consider it better than the relationship w/ the Amazons

Prrrrobably. While these girls can be pretty rough, there is no 'punishment' for sleeping with them.
