Description I know I was bragging about the beautiful summer but MELBOURNE WEATHER is crazy today.


This is actually the kind of behavior that our city is famous for. At 10 am it was hailing and my plans were ruined, but by 12ish it was already sunny (though very windy). Rinse and repeat. Right now there's a beautiful sunset out my window.

I wanted to draw this with Hipster!Aus because, well, Melbourne is where they all congregate. We are the cool city of Australia.

And also I realised that up till now I've progressively made Aus's hair darker and darker, and actually it's supposed to be kind of this colour.

I wanted to give him a HIPSTER ARIEL style caption but I couldn't think of anything.... lol.

Lol, thats so true! Melbourne gets 4 seasons in 1 day usually.
Adelaide has been trying to compete to be the coolest city with our developing art scene, but we're always gonna the city of murderers/serial killers.

D'aw I hear lots of good things about Adelaide, particularly their Fringe Festival, apparently it's amazing and the whole town gets involved. Murder is big news just cos it happened so dramatically in such a small town! We have a million mafia killings and it's "sexy tv drama". All depends on your point of view really...

Pfft, yeah. Cause EVERYONE thinks of the churches first when it comes to Adelaide right?

It is somewhat cool but I only like it for the stand-up comedians that come and perform.
Lol, you got your Underbelly gangs and stuff there too, so that balances out the hipsters with the swept fringes.
Although we've had so many shootings here lately we've started calling ourselves Melbourne.

I do still think of churches that's my example when I explain the whole "adelaide" joke to overseas visitors. TBH I would much rather a weekend in Adelaide than in Canberra...
Conversely the worst shooting I can think of is when a student went crazy pre-exam and shot a bunch of classmates at Monash uni. That's my uni... and for design someone did a poster to do with Monash with a gun and it and the teacher was like, "UR no I'm afraid you can't do that."

It's mainly bikies I think, the news isn't telling us much but it's always suspected bikie related shootings.
Lol, yes Adelaide is one step above Canberra... but then again so is everywhere else in the country.
Oh wow, I never heard of a shooting in a Monash. Was it a while ago? At my uni (UniSA) we've had suicides cause we've got high walkways between buildings.

I just heard about it on the radio, I was in year 12 at the time and "monash university" was just another name. But I've had classes in the Menzies building since then. AHHH creepy!

HMM yeah we have Bikie problems in the country too. Apparently they're responsible for a lot of drug trafficking? Us in the posh inner suburbs don't know much about that stuff though.

Weelll a lot of parts are more predictable than here, anyway. I know Melbourne's pretty crazy especially in late winter & spring, but this is my first summer hailstorm in recent memory. And it's snowing in the mountains too...

I gotta say though, at least our weather is fun!

Yeah it's a crazy summer. Last year was a bit funny too... at least it's strange for me who grew up in the "drought generation" where for 10 years summers were hot and dry. I think it's just El Nino or somesuch, but you NEVER KNOW.... 2012 huh

thats the same as sydney! the weather is so retarded today! it was all sunny and warm then it became windy and now a storm is gonna happen! but then again, australia is one of them places that you can experience all 4 seasons in one day XD

I'm not too bad with cold either but, it was just so unseasonal... a week ago I was lounging in the pool cos it was too hot to walk down the street to the milkbar for an icecream.

Aawww it's easy to dislike a place based on bad experiences, and there's lots of dodgy bits in Melbourne too *cough*frankston*cough*. If I lived in certain parts of Zone 2 I would totally and utterly hate Melb as well.
Saying that, I didn't feel as much of a fun atmosphere in Sydney when I was there. And also, as I'm from Melbourne, it's my job to bag on Sydney. Otherwise I have nothing against it.
