E///The colours kind of always bugged me, so I changed the levels a bit.I looked up a ton of furniture references for this... Furniture design in the 18th century was pretty wicked.
Ehem. Well France-niisan has become famous for one particular thing, but actually he's pretty bright. [link] for a concise discussion of how French Philosophy & thinking's shaped the world of thought. And with a great sense of style to boot!
Also French (and Europeans in general) do the whole Romance thing properly, whereas in English cultures you're expected to be kind of crap at it.
Russia in there b/c as France was the cosmopolitan centre of Europe, Russia looked up to them (and French was the civilised peoples' language...) culturally, even though they had tumultuous political relations.

It's nice to see some... seriousness in a country who (in Hetalia) behaves like a pervert and an helpless romantic (with nakedness and roses xD). I mean, yeah, it"s fun. But then what. There's more possibilities to explore. The same goes with Korea (or South Korea) and an important part of behavior in each country (though I guess it's normal, since Hetalia is a cynical gag xP)
Yeah, it's true though : most of French people are more open to talk about sexuality and romance than English speakers. EVEN in a casual conversation x3. For the other European countries... Don't really know. I think Latin countries like Italy or Spain are ok with it. (Btw, I'm French 8D)
And yeah, most of Russians used to speak French along their mothertongue decades ago. ^^

Hahahaha yes! I'm glad you agree. I'm Russian (by birth anyway) and while I like Russia being a bit of a psycho it makes me sad sometimes that people don't explore other sides to the country's culture/character.
Hetalia kind of embraces every stereotype of each country, but it's sad when fans don't move beyond that. I can't help feeling the ideas about France are very anglocised (coz the English nations love to make fun of France... and vice versa!). In terms of sexuality personally I think the Europeans have it right, and all us with British culture are just supressed & embarassed to talk about it, like little kids.

At the start, I kind of like him. I understood that everything was supposed to be a parody. x'D And well, French stereotypes are amusing. I think most people liked England first. ;3; I liked England and America, then I moved on to Lithuania... and Denmark.

I call it 'the citizens of a nation that refuses to admit that English is easier to learn than French syndrome'. Well, my mom says it's because they're full of pride of their own heritage. My dad says it's because they hate the English, while my friends say they're just trying to mess with people's head. I have a feeling that it's a combination of all four...

I totally agree.. every country has a light-hearted superficial character but I can't help but think the whole France = pervert thing smells of American/Englishism... the real balance seems to be more like: French (or certain European) cultures are more in TOUCH with their sensual sides & comfortable with the idea of romance / sexuality, where English-based cultures are all hush hush taboo embarrassed shy about it which builds frustration AND misunderstanding AND pervertism, when you REALLY come down to it.
