Description
So I tried my luck at trying to make a sci-fi alien race and overall I feel fifty-fifty at the time of finish, but the finish product here is growing on me.
I originally made this alien concept more for a community event www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/… for a webtoons comic call "Going Home' www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/… which I am not sure if I will have time, or the energy, to make the deadline for submission. Still, I wanted to make a alien race concept for later use and I thought why not kill two birds with one stone in the process.
In the beginning I wanted to take inspiration from some old Mesopotamian mythology from a bit of line that described a god as having 2 sets of eyes, 2 mouths, and so on. I am not sure if that is how the mythos story went in summary, but it was the beginning root for this project. I wanted to keep the whole concept of the two sets of eyes, and try to have two sets of ears as well. Later on in the process I took inspiration from Star Trek from the Cardassians, going for a sense of the facial shape structures and ideas, leading to the thorny hair, and facial and neck ridge structures, and later a bit of the Weequay from Star Wars to get an idea of how leathery skin would like. I think I managed to get the physical anatomy to look the way I wanted. The real thing that I didn't like so much was the armor gear design. The lower half I think turned out the best in regards to the gear, but I felt like I couldn't do much with the upper half. I wanted to aim for a desert, or warm climate, kind of feel for this alien concept.
Right now I do not have much figured out for this guy, or his people, but I figure I would see about trying to take some inspiration again from Mesopotamia civilizations, specifically that of Sumar, and see if I can get a name going.
