Description An image that should be good to kill a couple of minutes . An interesting juxtaposition as 221 - a modern, seven year-old Mi-171Š - returns to base in formation with legacy Mi-8MTV-1 254. Notable differences include the 171's additional right-hand cabin door (which had forced the relocation of the air conditioning unit to the top of the fuselage), the flat rear ramp replacing the original's clamshell doors, and the Doppler navigator antennas located further back along the tail boom. More subtle changes also include factory-integrated Western avionics (responsible for the different antenna setups on top of the boom), flare dispensers on the rear fuselage and additional armor protection around the cockpit. The major difference though is that the 171 is combat capable - with the "Š" in its desgination standing for "šturmovoj", meaning "assault" in Russian - and able to carry four B8V unguided rocket packs.
