There were always stories about the mansion on the hill and the glamorous Hollywood nobility who retreated there after surprising her fans and her following by retiring in her prime. She was never seen in public after 1971, and her last staffers were impossible to contact or track down, if they were still alive...
Trespassers were caught on the grounds in the late 90s, and again after the real estate crash in '08. The police reported that the calls came from the house, but other things about the report went missing, and the County Sheriff's Office refused to confirm who represented the property except to say that the offended party didn't take the charges to court.
When Jeanette finally steeled herself on the idea and made her way onto the property, she expected to be the next party to be caught, but she made it inside. She didn't even have to break-and-enter. Almost as if someone wanted her there.
