In the stone ages, before the Indo-Europeans invaded from the steppes, Europe was populated by a race of people simply known today as the European hunter gatherers. Many people think Europeans gets their pale skin and hair from Neanderthals. This isn't true. After Europeans bred with Neanderthals they did get blue eyes but their skin remained a brown/tan color and their hair dark. We know this from the DNA of those ancient peoples.
This population fascinates me in part because of how little we know about this people and their time.
What we know largely comes from a find in the Italian mountains from the frozen corpse of a murdered man name Otzi. He had a bow and arrows despite living in the stone ages. He also had tattoos and clothing made of animal skins but also of plant fibers as well.
I have taken some liberties giving these people jewelry. I have also taken the liberty of assuming they used woven baskets considering they did not yet have pottery. I have also taken liberties with actual style of their clothing, making assumptions that people of that day actually had a sense of style and that they would in fact put aesthetic efforts into the making of their clothing, rather than just practical considerations like warmth.
