Description Jeno isn't a great mage, but she can do some magic given the resources. So I inquired if she could conjure up some   and , but not only did she fail in that, she summoned a llama instead. She did manage to summon a beholder (kind of like a  I suppose) but not even a fancy one, just an ordinary attic beholder. The kind that lives under your roof and stares at you through cracks in the ceiling. Totally harmless. And maybe she didn't even summon it, it could have already been floating around. Oh yeah, and somehow inbetween she seemed to have unsummoned her panties. Well, like I said, not a great mage...

This silly image came to me when I was contemplating the llamas. Where do they come from? What do they do? Are they even real? Are they just a figment of the collective subconscious? Nobody knows.

Despite the metaphor that is this picture, I do appreciate all feedback, even if it's only a llama. I might not understand their true purpose but I always send 'em back, for good llamic llarma karma.

High elven affinity for magic is not universal in its distribution either among the schools of magic or the elves themselves. Jeno has yet to find her calling in the arcane and her initial attempts at summoning have left her visibly disappointed. The tiny llama has no idea where it is or how it came to be. It is likely to take a nap where it now lays.

But perhaps this is actually her calling. Not every summoning requires a titanic creature to arrive from the circle. In fact, most failed summonings result in aberrations of twisting flesh and sundered bone. Conjuring an adorable miniature is actually quite an achievement, especially for a first timer.

Jeno character morphed in ZBrush and Blender, composited in Daz Studio with purchased assets and rendered in Iray, post-worked in Photoshop.

Beholder went down to $5.00. I was tempted.

Maybe a bigger wand, Jeno?

I think she needs more practice. Also she's been skimping on her homework. I think she thinks just cause she's pretty bright she doesn't need to study as much but clearly more study wouldn't hurt.

The beholder is a really nice model, and as you can see it converts to Iray almost flawlessly. I'm pretty sure I've seen it go for lower than that before though (although another sale or discount may have been in place). Either way I'm sure you'll get another chance at it.

Well, it's like they say in mage school:  "Use inferior material, you'll get an inferior summoning!"

I think Jeno's unwillingness to commit to studying Summoning Magic (she's keeping her options open) has something to do with it as well. She's very intelligent and knows a little about a lot of things. "Jack of all trades and master of none".

Yeah, I've actually been admiring how well you show us that "Oh, come ON!" look of utter frustration with the universe at that moment; whatever's going on in her life, you convey that mood perfectly.

Some sheep herders in the US west use them as guard animals instead of dogs. The llamas like the sheep and vice versa and they have no trouble driving off coyotes, wolves, and even cougars. Llamas are cool!

Nice!  Where did you get the beholder?  Does that place have other D&D type monsters?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TritiumCG In reply to Myds6 [2019-01-25 00:36:53 +0000 UTC]

Thx, it was part of a monster bundle I got free (or really cheap) as part of a deal once a long time ago. I tracked it down: www.daz3d.com/fantasy-creature…
There are lots of monsters in the Daz store, not usually specifically D&D styled (copyright issues I'm sure) though it's worth having a look. Some of the Dragons come close: www.daz3d.com/hfs-legendary-sh…

Daz3D.com has sales all the time, I always wait for the sales to buy or this hobby would become too expensive really fast.

Thanks!  I usually wait for the sales, too, but my Patreon helps me get some of the stuff I need.  I find that they aren't _that_c earful about copyrights...I'm thinking of all the witcher-looking products that are spot on!
