Description Well, what can I say about this one. I had been looking through a book my aunt had lent me (actually ment for my friend who's big into indian traditions and art) and I came upon a chapter about the wounded knee. Though the victims were Lakota or souix, the oppression of the White man effected every tribe. The picture was an old cheyenne warrior perched upon his horse and in his hand was a coup stick. Never used for harm, it was basically used as a tapping or whip device. Indian braves would run up on horse back towards an enemy in battle and tap them with a coup stick. Thus the term counting coup (pronounced coo). These little smacks would earn them feathers which denoted rank. I just fell in love with this picture and had to draw it. The indians face seemed so tired and worn out, but he still had the drive to fight. Done in 3 hours with a .5 mechanical and b pencil. (the original is much darker and has more contrast to it..the computer lost a lot of it in the scanning.) Hopefully, with any luck I can sell the original..but, I guess we'll see.

Great work ~troxell, detail is aimed at bringing forward the essence of the spirit in your image. You've the technical skill to do this flawlessly. Perhaps you want to give airbrushing a try. I believe it would perfectly match your style. I enjoyed looking at your visual tribute. Take care,

Rage

Heheh..airbrushing happens to be the one medium I haven't been able to give my hands a try at. My brother owns an airbrushing machine (or use to) maybe I could sweet talk him into letting me get a try at it. Thanks for the idea by the way! And thank you for the wonderful comments!
