Description Aleuri stepped into the hot desert, her pelt giving off an orange glow from the sunset. Jason was following at her paws, head low. His mother's mood was obviously bitter, and he knew better than to ask questions. Aleuri knew that she needed to teach her son about the hatred he needed to feel towards the pride. A couple of the rogues from the clan greeted Aleuri as she walked by and she dipped her head back in acknowledgement. Nearby, a young cub and teen male lounged about in the sun, tired and thirsty. The young cub glanced up and spotted Aleuri and Jason. "Say... Isn't that the little prince of this clan?" she asked the teen male who had his attention to a fly who was buzzing loudly. He nodded without looking, assuming she was referring to Jason. As he pounced on the fly, he rolled his eyes. "Yeah, that's Jason, Fang's kid. He sure looks like a runt tho. I don't understand why everyone thinks he's going to be strong." The cub stared at him and giggled softly, "I think he's sort of cute." The teenager let out a loud laugh. "You can't be serious could you Zacia? You have no chance, especially with his mother always nearby!" Zacia rolled her eyes. "I'm sure she'd let me play with him. Besides, it's not like I'm some pride kitty Quarro." A challenging gleam sparked in his eyes. "Then why don't you go talk to them?" he sneered and Zacia looked over to where Aleuri had stopped to talk to her son in front of their den. Taking a big gulp, she slowly began walking toward them, not wanting to seem scared. Quarro watched with amusement as Zacia inched over to them. "...And that is why I don't want you talking to those cubs, especially Jayla! They're nothing more than mere liars. They want you to believe they're your friend just to trick you." Jason sighed and nodded with a quiet "Yes mom..." Aleuri looked up to see Zacia approaching. "Yes?" Zacia grew full of fear as she met eyes with Aleuri. Her jaw hung open as she tried to find her voice. Jason turned around and stared at her; he had never seen her before. "I... I er... I wanted to know if I could play with Jason?" To her surprise, Aleuri broke into a small grin. "Maybe tomorrow, Jason's had enough action for today. Say... you're Zacia aren't you?" She blinked in surprise and nodded. "Yeah, that's right." "Hmm... I think I prefer you over Jason's choice of friends. Come by tomorrow afternoon and he'll be able to play with you." Zacia smiled, "Thank you!" As she bounded off Jason turned his gaze to his mother. "I'm not even tired yet. How come you don't like the other cubs but want her to be my friend when you don't even know her?" Picking Jason up by the scruff, Aleuri let out a sigh. "Did you not listen to a word I said earlier? Pride lions are troublemakers. They want nothing to do with outcasts like us. Rogues in our clan stick together." She dropped Jason in his nest and she lay down besides him. She curled her tail around him as he curled up next to her. Staring up at the ceiling of the den, she began to laugh to herself. "Just you watch. When you're older, you'll be strong enough to help us become better than the pride. You won't sleep in a place like this, you'll have a throne of your own. You won't have another night of going to bed hungry. You'll take over their land and let them know what it's like to suffer the way we have." She glanced back down to him where he nodded half heartedly as he began to snore softly. She too lay her head down and began to drift off into a well-earned sleep.
