Description Upper picture: Vambrace 2.0, it's bigger than the last one and therefor fits the refs a lot better. Still having the unfinished hidden blade as mock up (I'll probably keep the tip, ditching the handle.

Lower left: Early hood construction. Later I got rid of some fabric on the inside and cut some corners off to make the points pointier and the inside blue lining go back again (it sticks out at the front).

Lower right: some gear put on, the cuff is now attached to the sleeves.

Btw, allthough I needed to heavily modify this (switch some stitching lines and adding 5 cm underneath) I still think I'm ought to credit ~Franky-bizarro for his amazing hood pattern, located at:

Well the last thing is basicly what I did. So it's printed at twice the size. However, being inexperienced at that moment it was actually to big. I had to resize the final product a little bit. When I'll get back to this costume I will probably fix it up again.

Btw, I tried to use the distance between my eyes (and thus the size of the beak) to scale the hood. Nowdays I would just resize a patternpicture on my computerscreen and trace it on a piece of paper to be sure it's the right size (I did that with Jacob's kukri too).

Btw, planning on something new ? Good luck!

How exactly do you get the vambrace to stay on your arm? Did you use some kind of hooks to attach together?

Trujin In reply to brawler0001 [2013-08-17 09:18:59 +0000 UTC]

It's attached to the coat with some velcro .

I have couple qs. what did u use to place the leather on cardboard /metal ect?, what did u do to make the assassin logo in the middle. and what kinda fabric white did u use. white or off white. or does it not matter, thanks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to CreedCosplay [2013-04-21 09:21:47 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, the leather of the vambrace is fortified with plastic (just glue). The "metal" parts were pretty easy. I used some eyelets which I just screwed in the leather strap. The little metal strips I just folded around the leather strip. Later I glued them as well.

The AC logo in the middle is wood (look at my scrapbook pictures, there will be some wip pics there). I used white fabric, but off-white would also work. I later painted it with acrylic paint to give it a weared look, so I wouldn't really matter.

how much would u charge to make a left arm vambrace, the leather one in this picture?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to midna12345678910 [2013-01-11 22:13:42 +0000 UTC]

I really wouldn't know, besides I don't do commisions. It's sad but I just don't have the time . Besides that I wouldn't know how to send it, collect money for it and it would probably be around 100 dollars concidering the time I have to put into it . Sorry, but I could offcourse help you if you have some trouble or give you some tips on how I did certain stuff .

Great! What tips can u offer? What was the hardest part? Anything to help make it easier

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to midna12345678910 [2013-01-13 17:42:48 +0000 UTC]

The hardest part is messuring everything. You want the thing to be kind of bulky and not too slimfit your arm (else the whole thing wouldn't have the awesomeness like it has in game).

The emblem could be a problem if you aren't too handy with crafting, searching for the right material could be somewhat difficult too. Be sure to first make a mock up out of carton (which has somewhat the thickness of leather) to see if everything fits right.

ok i have a few more questions, where on earth did u get all the buttons? what would work best? also where did u get the clamps and rings that hold the belt and other leather straps and components together? just need some tips on what you used as material for all the leather? pretty expensive stuff.

Trujin In reply to midna12345678910 [2013-01-16 06:55:04 +0000 UTC]

If you are purely talking about the "rivets" on the vambrace: these are your normal screw and bolt rings [link] attached to the vambrace with a silver painted split pin [link] . I tried to search for real rivits, but these do the trick. You can secure them at the back with solder or duct-tape.

The buttons for the coat I got from a local market, but these are indeed hard to find. Though I did change some of them for brown painted normal 4 hole buttons [link] since they seem to be in-game.

The clamps (I suppose you ment the four holding the emblem too the vambrace) are a total of 4 screweyes [link] (you now, the stuff you use to hang paintings or use to lock your doors with). These are screwed in the leather and/or secured with glue. The metal that looks attached to it at the end of the leather straps are pieces of can-metal, this can be cut by sizors and is easy to bend (be sure to sand the edges). If this isn't in your reach, you can also just use anything flexible (like plastic), paint it and glue it on.

Rings attached to the emblem is just metal wire formed into a ring. Leather straps are made by me, folding over 1/2 mm thick leather and sew them at the edges. My leather supply comes from leather I cut from old couches, a really simple way to get real leather cheap and since the couches have been used, probably allready weathered .

Oh yes, this makes me a bit of a cheap ass. The costume didn't really cost me a lot of money, the whole thing is under the 100 euro, it only takes loads of time to construct these things.

Shade0066 In reply to Trujin [2012-12-05 17:36:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Really helped with making my own templates. What kind of material is that? Looks like leather but its sewn so its throwing me off

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to Shade0066 [2012-12-05 18:33:49 +0000 UTC]

It's leather from old couches. I just took a gamble and used my sewing machine to sow it. The material is 1 to 1,5 mm thick and can be sown with the machine. The use of a leather needle (just ask for it at your local store) makes it really easy. For the coat I had to sew 5 layers together of the stuff.

Biggest tip: have a lot of patience and for harder parts: use your hand to turn the wheel instead of the motor.

Shade0066 In reply to Trujin [2012-12-05 18:54:59 +0000 UTC]

Awesome. Thanks for the tips. I'll have to scout the fabric stores for a similar material and needle to handle it. I basically have my templates done I just gotta tweak them as I go to get them just right.

Trujin In reply to Shade0066 [2012-12-05 19:08:28 +0000 UTC]

You would be wise to get some cheap foam like substance (I used floorisolotion for example) to test your templates. The thicker material enables you to find out how the leather would behave .

Shade0066 In reply to Trujin [2012-12-05 21:32:30 +0000 UTC]
