How exactly do you get the vambrace to stay on your arm? Did you use some kind of hooks to attach together?

I have couple qs. what did u use to place the leather on cardboard /metal ect?, what did u do to make the assassin logo in the middle. and what kinda fabric white did u use. white or off white. or does it not matter, thanks

Hmm, the leather of the vambrace is fortified with plastic (just glue). The "metal" parts were pretty easy. I used some eyelets which I just screwed in the leather strap. The little metal strips I just folded around the leather strip. Later I glued them as well.
The AC logo in the middle is wood (look at my scrapbook pictures, there will be some wip pics there). I used white fabric, but off-white would also work. I later painted it with acrylic paint to give it a weared look, so I wouldn't really matter.

Great! What tips can u offer? What was the hardest part? Anything to help make it easier

The hardest part is messuring everything. You want the thing to be kind of bulky and not too slimfit your arm (else the whole thing wouldn't have the awesomeness like it has in game).
The emblem could be a problem if you aren't too handy with crafting, searching for the right material could be somewhat difficult too. Be sure to first make a mock up out of carton (which has somewhat the thickness of leather) to see if everything fits right.

ok i have a few more questions, where on earth did u get all the buttons? what would work best? also where did u get the clamps and rings that hold the belt and other leather straps and components together? just need some tips on what you used as material for all the leather? pretty expensive stuff.

If you are purely talking about the "rivets" on the vambrace: these are your normal screw and bolt rings [link] attached to the vambrace with a silver painted split pin [link] . I tried to search for real rivits, but these do the trick. You can secure them at the back with solder or duct-tape.
The buttons for the coat I got from a local market, but these are indeed hard to find. Though I did change some of them for brown painted normal 4 hole buttons [link] since they seem to be in-game.
The clamps (I suppose you ment the four holding the emblem too the vambrace) are a total of 4 screweyes [link] (you now, the stuff you use to hang paintings or use to lock your doors with). These are screwed in the leather and/or secured with glue. The metal that looks attached to it at the end of the leather straps are pieces of can-metal, this can be cut by sizors and is easy to bend (be sure to sand the edges). If this isn't in your reach, you can also just use anything flexible (like plastic), paint it and glue it on.
Rings attached to the emblem is just metal wire formed into a ring. Leather straps are made by me, folding over 1/2 mm thick leather and sew them at the edges. My leather supply comes from leather I cut from old couches, a really simple way to get real leather cheap and since the couches have been used, probably allready weathered .
Oh yes, this makes me a bit of a cheap ass. The costume didn't really cost me a lot of money, the whole thing is under the 100 euro, it only takes loads of time to construct these things.

I'm curious, did you use real leather for the vambrace or pleather?

Thanks. Really helped with making my own templates. What kind of material is that? Looks like leather but its sewn so its throwing me off

Trujin In reply to Shade0066 [2012-12-05 18:33:49 +0000 UTC]
It's leather from old couches. I just took a gamble and used my sewing machine to sow it. The material is 1 to 1,5 mm thick and can be sown with the machine. The use of a leather needle (just ask for it at your local store) makes it really easy. For the coat I had to sew 5 layers together of the stuff.
Biggest tip: have a lot of patience and for harder parts: use your hand to turn the wheel instead of the motor.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips. I'll have to scout the fabric stores for a similar material and needle to handle it. I basically have my templates done I just gotta tweak them as I go to get them just right.
