Description Hey guys,

About a week ago I finally finished my Edward costume. I might experiment with some wigwork, but all the other costume parts are done (there were some minor details that got broken or were still missing, like the waistbelt and proper boots).

So I thought I finally had some time to get some serious work done (school and work), but then I heard my girlfriend wanted to do a shoot in two weeks. Fine and all, but when I heard it would be in a forest I rushed to my closet to get my Connor stuff out. A lot was allready redone and fixed after the Halloween Release, but it still needed some final fixes.

So basicly I've been busy making a ACH inspired woman costume and fixing up Connor. I'm actually pretty happy with the results .

In the picture you can see:

- Third version of the leggins (finally got them game accurate).
- Fixed hidden blade vambrace (needed to redo some metal rings and some straps at the hidden blade plate).
- Fixed a lot on the coat (just compare it to the Halloween Tryout version and you'll see.
- Redid belts, pouch and holsters.
- Redid the quiver (which is actually pulling the belts down due the weight, so I had to secure it in the front to the coatconnector).
- And finally finished the bow, jeeh!

So after this I'll probably put more time in school and work. I'll probably be working on some minor projects (iron man arc reactor, man with no name). The first big project will probably be one of these three: AC BH ebony black fix up (yes my first costume), AC II Ezio or just the new AC character when it's revealed in march ).

Anyways, it was good talking to you guys again. Good luck on your projects!

PS: I guess it's pretty obvious I wouldn't like anybody posting this picture somewhere else, tnx .

I've used the templates I made myself, you should find them in my gallery under 'patterns' There you will also find a lot of FAQ.

I originally made the coat with materials I had lying around. I would advise however to make the coat out of wool, linnen, thick cotton or canvas. You could also try several thicker furniture or curtain fabrics.Β

Thank you very much for you reply and tips!! Eternally thankful. I am kinda new at this but I want to make a good RatonhnhakΓ©ton costume in order to wear it for halloween and maybe some day at a comic con event.

Haha, I really love all those icons. Still don't know how to get them to work XD.

Anyways, to awnser your questions: I use acrylic paints and drybrush methods to dirty up the fabric.Β

Similair to what they did in this video:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=b046u9…

I also used that for the belts.

Maybe this helps:

You looked incredible before, now you look just amazing. Great work on the leggings! They turned out perfectly! Did you carve out the bow yourself? Almost tempted to redo ours now! You raise the bar high, man. Between you and Rick, it's hard to come close!

Thanks, I'm very glad with the leggins two, this being my thirth pair. The light leather really worked making the dang things come out right XD.

I did make the boy myself, wouldn't call it carving, I used a jigsaw to get the general shape out and sanded down the rest of the details .

Thanks for the compliments!

You are very talented and joining to be able to complement your work is small payment for the valuable information that i got from all your posts.

I promised myself I wouldn't do this, but I do have a few questions. At first I was under the impression that lines drawn on the Sophisticated Body Shape pattern were all trimmed with leather. But when i thought about how it would be put together I knew i was wrong. Β I went back and looked at your pictures and tutorials and images from other people and it seemd to me that you very clearly show that the arm holes and collars are trimmed in leather.Β

So I was looking at the other lines in the pattern and it seems that you have topstitched these areas, possibly with a narrow zigzag.

They would be the line across the shoulder, around the blue patch on the back, along with a few others that aren't actual seam lines and therefore seem to have no purpose (like between the shoulder blades).

One other question is the side pocket flaps - I have looked at a million pictures and on most the outside of the flap is white, but some show it as blue. Which color did you use?

I tried watching screen captures but it moves to fast. I asked my son, but in his very 14year old way he told me that when he plays the game he does not count buttons.

Thanks,

kim

I gladly awnser these questions for you. First off, you might not familiar with DA to much to know this, but people can actually have scrap galleries next to their normal gallery. I have a lot of old pictures or wip-pictures from my projects over there. You can find mine here:

trujin.deviantart.com/gallery/…

When I first started my coat somebody told me that in-game footage showed how these lines were trimmed with leather. I couldn't stop myself doing the same thing. Some people indeed topstiched those lines with brown zigzags to make them appear brown/leather like. However I'm a bit of a detail freak so I indeed used leather to create this lines. You can see detailed pictures of the progress and end result here:

trujin.deviantart.com/art/AC3-…

trujin.deviantart.com/art/Leat…

trujin.deviantart.com/art/AC3-…

trujin.deviantart.com/art/AC3-…

So I guess it's up to you to decide what to do. Making the leather lining was pretty difficult to do (since it was my first serious project) but I think it payed off, people tend to compliment me on that )

As for the pocket flaps, I made them white, with blue edges and 3 blue "buttonholes".

As for the buttons, I counted them and they add up to 50 buttons.

- 8 metal big ones at each side at the front at the blue overlap in the middle, which adds up to 16.

- 2 brown big ones (in game) at the lower back above the blue triangles.

- 2 brown big ones (in game) at the overlapping blue flaps at the back.

- 4 middle big ones at the shoulders for the eppilettes.

- 2 small ones at the collar.

- 8 small ones in total at the elbowpats (in game however the brown leather vambrace overlaps one of these buttons at the left arm).

- 8 middle big brown ones at the white vest.

- 7 at the white "vambrace" at the right arm.

- 1 blue button that the wrist of the white "vambrace".

Hope that helped .

I have read many of your posts in the process trying to find a pattern for A Connor Kenway costume for my 14 year old son. Β It wasn't until today that i realized it was your first costume. You have real talent. It is hard enough to sew a costume with a pattern and instructions, never mind to create one from a video game. You have done an incredible job!

I also wanted to complement you on your willingness to share your patterns and your experience with anyone who asked. You have great patience and were a very kind even though some of the questions were asked by 3 or 4 different people (some of whom never bother to read the earlier posts).

I look forward to seeing your future projects and i hope my efforts come out half as well as yours.

I saw you just joined today, did you go into all the trouble just to contact me? I'm honoured.Β

Thanks for the big compliment you just gave me. I'm glad you noticed that was indeed my first fully completed costume (working on some details on Edward on the moment). I think I could still fix some details, but yes, it's the first that's truely completed.

I'm glad I could help you out by posting my patterns and thank Β you for recognizing my willingness to help, which I still do. If you have any questions, just contact me!

Thanks for the message and good luck on completing your project!

ok so...I have a ton of questions. Β haha (I'm going to attempt to get my husband's Conner costume done by Halloween - my project had not started yet due to a career change and big move for our family.) Β But anyway, is that blue diamond shaped piece on the back of the coat a part of the actual construction or is it stitched over the coat back? Β

Just awesome BTW, looks great! :-DΒ

Trujin In reply to TegwynDeForest [2013-10-02 09:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Well you might be interested in some of my patterns then, since there you can see that the blue diamond shape is indeed just sewn to the back, you can notice that in game too .

Good luck on the project though, I've worked on this for about a year and you still have one month left haha. But you are a professional seamstress so you shouldn't have any problems .

Dude this is looking stellar! it's amazing what going back to a costume can do to make it above and beyond the original. I actually just saw one of my old Ezio pictures from the first con I wore it to and I forgot just how awful it really wasΒ  at one time. xD Not to say your first Connor was awful but damn this is impressive.Β

Thank you very much for your words. I'm a great fan of your work and it's an honour you took the time to write this big reply .

And yes, old pictures are always a bit harsh on the eyes. Edward also got some minor changes that made the whole look of the costume different (should take some new pics of that one too XD).

And in case of Connor, the first time I wore it, it was pretty awful. The whole look of the costume was just off. I hope the changes will result in a better overall look of the whole costume, some updates of that soon .

Forcebewitya In reply to Trujin [2013-10-01 08:03:53 +0000 UTC]

anytime man, you're inspiring me to make a good Edward now and maybe Connor too eventually. It was a hard choice, but I love the work you've done with them both. There are some costumes that I never go back to even if I know things could be improved but the Assassin costumes command so much attention to detail if you see something that you know could be better I at least have to go back and fix it. I had to remake my Ezio pauldren after doing one on commission because the commissioned one looked so much better than my old one lol. Anyway cant wait to see what else you have in store

Thanks for the kind words, glad I inspire you. You actually inspired me when I was working on a AC II costume, yours rocks!Β

I know the feel. Actually I just experienced the same thing. I made a pauldron far back. This week I made one for my girlfriend, it turned out way better than the old one and I will remake it when I need it again .

At the moment I'll probably fix my Edward costume some more and start on one of the Ezio costumes. Still have to make some nice pictures of the Man with no name though XD.

Good luck on your Edward costume, the beltbuckle turned out great!

Well most of the weatheringwork is done with acrylic paint. Sometimes I do use sandpaper or sizzors. It really depends. You should actually just check some sites out on movie propmaking .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to Melenea [2013-09-27 13:24:19 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I totally agree with that. Most of the final finishing up of my costumes is making it more comfortable.

For example: On my Edward costume I attached the waistbelt, sash and all the weaponbelts to the leather vest. That way I can simply put it on without having to worry about all that stuff getting loose and sliding down to my butt .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Melenea In reply to Trujin [2013-09-27 21:30:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I should totally do that too ! Β

Oh really nice idea ! You just have to know how to stable things

I also did some tricks on my Connor cosplay. I attached the belt with the Assassins Creed Logo with buttons behind the coat so the belt stays in place Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to Melenea [2013-09-28 10:45:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that is a good idea. I used a sparate plastic strip instead though. In the reference material it can be seen that the weoponbelt starts highter, than the emblembelt is at .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Melenea In reply to Trujin [2013-09-30 05:14:07 +0000 UTC]

oh really ? Yeah my belt may be a little bit to high ... the most annoying part is the read scarf that goes under the emblembelt. It just doesn't stay in place. I considered to sew him in a certain shape so that it doesn't slip up and down all the time .__.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trujin In reply to Melenea [2013-09-30 14:06:55 +0000 UTC]

The sash and belt and emblem are just one piece for me . It's secured with some velcro in the back .
