Overall, this looks terrific! My only concern is the lack of eye contact between the feline and swamp beast, which could be remedied if the scene was extended more to the left so it felt like the beast was lunging towards the girl instead? Otherwise, the feline looks like it's staring off against some unseen threat but I do love how the beast breaks through the water! Your painterly style has always been a draw for me and you can feel the surprise between the characters. The rule of three is also prevalent so it all comes together pretty well!

Ah, I wouldn't be concerned as the art is still very nice overall. Just wanted to add my two cents.
Not sure if it means anything but this is the first time I've made use of the critique function. So I wasn't sure what to say.

I'll start with the things that I feel you could have done better. First, to my eye the weapon looks like it is too curved. Both points look like they are too close together for either to be used for effective stabbing. The gap between them looks too small to allow much use of the inside edge. The outside curve might be useful as a weapon but unless the blade has a powerful enchantment worked into it it seems like I'd want something with more reach to face such a dangerous-looking water beast. The other issue is the pose of the snow leopard. The sightline from the cat looks to be somewhat away from the water beast, not directly at it.
I love the atmosphere of the work. The surprise of the foreground character is obvious as is the protective nature of her cat companion. The beast is fearsome and is nicely different than most monsters. I love the swamp and its plants. Great work!

Even if surprised, I'd think she might not draw a weapon right away. If she was gathering plants, maybe she's have cut leaves in her hand ?
