Once upon a time, in a land quite far away, there was a king. He was a noble, virtuous man with wisdom far beyond his years. He was joyfully married to a beautiful queen who was his equal in both wisdom and justice. Several years passed, and the Queen found to her and her husband's great delight that she was pregnant.

However, their joy was mixed with sorrow. The gentle queen died in childbirth, and their new young daughter was left, though alive, without a mother. Now, the king loved his wife very much, and so just as carefully loved one of the few things he still had that were a part of her, namely their little child.

But the late queen's mother was not of the same mind. She, unwilling to even entertain the possibility that the king would marry again, this time outside of her family, tried to get the king to marry her second daughter. This second daughter was nothing like her older sister. Though beautiful, she cared nothing for the people, but only for her own well-being. And as well as this, the queen-mother showed no love towards her young granddaughter.

The king, wisely fearing for his child's life, secretly sent a herald he knew to be loyal to the centaurs of the wood. The herald's message was a plea: "The King begs you to take his child and raise her in safety. He bids you remember the kindness he has shown your people."

The centaurs, being a noble and trustworthy people (for the most part) gladly agreed. That night, they sent their swiftest daughter to the castle, where she gently accepted the small princess. She carefully, but quickly, ran through the woods to the safest place that the centaurs knew. Even as the castle dropped out of sight, the evil grandmother sent out soldiers to bring back the child. She would not rest until she had her vengeance.

This is such a beautiful story. I really wish I could see the continueous. However you write that. ><
You really drew it well. The daughter's expression is great. Sad, looking down to the child, in a big hurry. Good job!

Creative story and beautiful drawing! The centaur's tail is especially nice--it looks so realistic.
