Description So last night, Ireland and Sweden both competed in the first semifinal of the 2023 Eurovision, with Wild Youth and Loreen performing “We Are One” and “Tattoo.” The result unfortunately saw Ireland, one of the heavy underdogs, eliminated in the semifinal again whilst Sweden, the Heavy Favourite, qualifying for the Grand Final.

Last Night’s result has left me angered, heartbroken and worried. I’m furious over the fact almost every rock entry, except for Croatia, who didn’t even have that good of a performance, was eliminated whilst every Pop entry got through. I’m also heartbroken because Ireland’s entry was beautiful (I may sound Biased but I’m serious) and it was super painful to see us go out again, despite all that promise. And now, the paranoia is kicking in.

With Ireland eliminated, Sweden now have an easy path to a 7th Eurovision Title, which will mean they will tie with Ireland, not to mention that if Loreen wins, she will become the second Eurovision Star after Johnny Logan to win the title more than once. And if she wins, Sweden will smell weakness from Ireland and will push for an 8th win next year to overtake Ireland’s record.

Sadly, it looks as this is gonna happen as Sweden almost have no opposition to them, with the exception of Finland. I absolutely adored Finland’s song, “Cha Cha Cha” by Käärijä, as it was funny and hyperactive. So I will be hoping for a Finnish Win on Saturday. I will also be hoping for Germany to do well, as they will be sending a Heavy Metal to Liverpool. Hopefully, that does well to give Rock a last stand against Pop.

I will take a look at Tomorrow’s results and determine whether or not anyone from Semi-Final 2 can match Loreen. I hope Australia qualify for the Final!

I’m this meme, Grant Gustin, representing Sweden, lies over Ireland’s grave for most Eurovision wins.
