A Great Western Railway Class 165/1, unit number 165128, sits on platform 5 at West Ealing waiting to run the short shuttle service to Greenford.

The Greenford Shuttle is probably the most loneliest train in London, unless you count the Southeastern Shuttle between Grove Park and Bromley North or the Overground Line between Romford and Upminster. I say this because the Class 165 running the service is the only passenger train that runs on the line. Although the timetable says there are two trains per hour, this is because the train is able to make it from West Ealing to Greenford within 15 minutes. As such, I regard this is one of the loneliest trains in London. It gets even creepier during the evening, especially in Winter when Night Falls earlier.

The 165 running the service will soon be replaced, as GWR have proposed and began testing to run a Class 230 D-Train on Battery Power. A good idea, but a real shame to the little train here. Oh well…
