OH MY GAWD, LOOK AT THAT!

So these are my new ocs. I've been cooking them up for a while now, gathering my resources and reference shots, yadda, yadda, yadda.

First up we have Abba J. Little, son of the Jabberwocky/Jabberwock from a poem by Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I have wanted to do a child of that creature for a while and wanted to take a crack at a boy character since men are not my strong point and I need more practice. I knew right from the start that Abba should be a more gangly, awkward looking guy. In the illustration by John Tenniel, the Jabberwocky is a startling creature, though not what one would call scary, right off the bat [link] . The buck teeth, the catfish-like whiskers...the fact that he is in a vest like he's on his way to a tea party; he's a shocker, but more of an awkward shock, than a frightening one in my opinion, and that's what I love about about Tenniel's interpretation. So that's how I got Abba, stuttering, overly polite young man with big clumsy hands and feet, some cute buck teeth and some horrid fashion sense when it comes to matching colors. He's seventeen, around seven feet tall and has a pet Borogove named Mimsy (anyone who gets the reference of the Borogove gets a cookie). I used this picture for the color scheme of Abba's skin [link]

Then we have Linxus Sphinx, whom I could not think of a more creative last name for
Linxus is the daughter of Sphinx from two different cultures. Her mother is a Greek Sphinx, which are commonly female in myth with a woman's head and upper torso, a lion body starting under the breasts, a serpents tail and a pair of wings. They are known for giving riddles to travelers that cross their path and killing the unlucky individual who fails to answer correctly. Linxus' father is an Egyptian Sphinx. He's less hostile a creature in myth, trusted as a guardian of temple entrances. So he's pretty laid back. Linxus has large cat-like haunches which greatly annoys her as it makes finding a decent pair of pants difficult. She is also on the tall side and lean, having a small bust line, though she considers that more of a good thing. Unlike her mother, Linxus is terrible at riddles and the protective nature of her father comes out in her as more territorial and stubborn; she really doesn't like to share. While she may not be a good riddler, she does hold in her arsenal a broad range of useless facts and trivia, somewhat geeky in nature (she secretly knows waaaay too much about sci-fi and comics). Her hair was inspired by this picture that I found a few months back [link] . I really just liked the picture it has nothing to do with either culture of her heritage. She's 1600 and has a biting sarcastic attitude and a pet rock, which doesn't have a name, though if you get on her nerves enough she will refer to it as her 'counter argument' XD

So I hope you all like them. I put a lot of thought into them and have spent weeks working on them, harassing my dear friend ~leavesofthree in various notes for advice and just throwing ideas for their development around.
