Description While I was out shooting the Monarch Butterfly this... Butterfly? Moth? ??? Was also pretty interested in the Butterfly Bush. This dude never sat down, so I have no idea what his wings looked like.

-EDIT-
Thanks to Tammie, it's been identified! [link]

Still looks like a flying shrimp to me!

Beautiful image! The first time you saw one?
I few years ago I had the chance to take a pictures of a hummingbird moth myself. They are beautiful don’t you think?
But so fast and difficult to take a picture of and they really look like a hummingbird. I had no idea what it was, normally they don’t live in or country but it was a very hot summer that year. This summer I have only seen one in my little garden and it was gone before I had the chance to take my camera.

From that year on I always put the same flowers in my garden because I know they like to visit them.

Well, I have a feeling I've always mistook these flying through very fast, and thought they were a hornet of some type. Looking at the photo you shot, I see why they call the ones that we have "clearwing" hummingbird moths. Interesting isn't it!?

There are a lot of interesting animals out there, always something to see and learn about.

This moth's kin must be making an appearance in Canada as well! Check out gallery pictures that she posted today.[link]

She did take some awfully good ones! She said she followed that moth all over her yard for a half hour!

It just seems that if I open my mouth trying to do something nice I either get iganored or the reverse will happen. Just best I sit in my little corner, and shut the hell up.

Great shot, Bob! We have these moths in Colorado. Haven't seen any here in Cedaredge, but we had them at the rental house in Grand Junction where they visited the pink hibiscus bushes in front of the house. At first I thought they were hummingbirds until Bill set me straight.

LOL It does!!!! I've only seen these creatures here on dA...what a huge moth! Do they make any sound as they fly/hover?

They seem like they don't care much for getting close to people But I agree, if one buzzed my head I wouldn't care for it!
