Description This is Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. There's a lot that can be said regarding the old girl. During WWII, virtually every Service man , or woman, that needed to move from one coast to the other, traveled through the Union Station in Kansas City. Up till the decline of passenger services in late 60's early seventies, Union Station was a bustling rail connection. In the 70's and 80's this building was all but abandoned. In the 90's it was renovated, and now is the home to Science City, an interactive educational center.

This photo was taken from the Liberty Memorial, which overlooks Union Station.

We're really going to have to stop this silliness!

It's not a fractal though.......

You know how far back I go with photography? Try this, people used to get in heated arguments as to whether photography was an art or not. Now a days, it's looked at as an art, then it was looked at as a science! Weird huh?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lovely-Demented In reply to TThealer56 [2007-07-27 05:44:32 +0000 UTC]

I just read an article a bit ago that defends fractal art as an art and not cold science. [link]

TThealer56 In reply to Lovely-Demented [2007-07-27 05:50:45 +0000 UTC]

No, fractal art is not strictly a mathematical science. It amazes me that any form of art has that type of debate anymore. In fact, unless we're talking about petroglyphs, virtually all art actually uses science. Painting uses geometry, as well as all other traditional "hand art". There is the science of mixing the paint, to obtain the colors....... So there isn't such a thing as a total art, without science.

Well said. I agree wholeheartedly. Anything that involves human input and opinion is art.

TThealer56 In reply to Lovely-Demented [2007-07-27 22:37:16 +0000 UTC]

Yes....... I suppose that you could say, anything that is the product of human imagination, and creativity is art also........

Lovely light, to make the building have a hint of magic. Not a Fan of Railway station's but with this light, look's friendly.

You know....... The building, itself is a very ....... "grand" building, but I've always had the impression that it is a friendly building. I think it remembers, I think it remembers the more civilized time of rail travel in America. The building and the area of the Liberty Memorial vibrate. It has to do, I'm sure with a transition from then to now..............

Musing.................

Wishing, here.....You should see the horror, of our local station. A Victorian monster of iron girder's and roof ( like a wall-less, shed) mashed up with 60's bad taste add-on's, to top it off....They have in the last year added on an Ultra modern ( wait for it......Multi-level Carpark)
Thus the view from side to side.....is a continuous row of miss-match's. So sad, for the lovely Tudor Public House close by.

Yep! Kansas City was easy to get to through out the MINK states, and the military had several installations in the area. As well as military airfields........

All of those rhyme with "that"

Here's a riddle & rhyme:
Railroad crossing! Look out for the cars!
Can you spell that without any "R's" ?
