En Sabah Nur was born nearly five thousand years ago on the edge of the Valley of the Kings, in ancient Egypt. Born with gray skin, and blue lines on his face and lips, he inspired fear in even adults. Out of the desert rode a band of nomadic raiders who slaughtered En Sabah Nur’s people and their leader, Baal, adopted the child as his own, naming the child “The First One”. It turns out, he is perhaps the first mutant—born with the ability to control the molecules of his body allowing him to shape shift as needed and regenerate from injuries, disease or hostile environment, as well as generate nearly any superhuman power. Combined with merging with Celestial technology, Apocalypse has made himself virtually immortal.
