It's quite unusual for you to make a bottom perspective, as if one just suddenly died, or it's as if the one seeing either fainted, or is a spirit.

I suppose this is what it would look like if you'd gone up the ladder and gotten shot, finding yourself flat on your back at the bottom of the trench, gasping for air (hey, falling that far hurts!). This perspective makes me want to reach for the oxygen.

To me the setting is quite peaceful. Either that, or you're disliked among your comrades, as they don't seem to react at you being shot and gasping for air while lying in the mud.
