Description
Roman infantryman from the times of the rebublic, probably from the punic wars. The old legions (they were formed from the farmers who could afford the fighting gear and were not payed professional soldiers like the ones serving emperors in later times) were divided to three sections. The first line was called the hastati and were formed from the youngest and most eager warriors. The second line was colled princeps and they were men in their 30´s and were stable and reliable troops who already have seen some action. The last line was called triarius, and they were all hard boiled veteran warriors, and were the last line to be thrown in the battle. THe romans had a saying: "The matter is at the hands of the triarius" that meant that the battle was going badly and it was needed to throw the best elite on the line to save the day.

Like I said, this man is from the Hastatus unit, he is young and eager fighter, who has´nt been able to loot himself enough silver to buy a decent chainmail armor.
