Thank you! I like to think the stag is a projection of the part of his psyche he considers the darkest, ie, whatever allows him to empathize with the killers. My favorite quote from Red Dragon is about how his mind was like a chair made of antlers... Functional, but grotesque in its design. Ugh. Fucking neuroatypical FBI special agent and his self-hatred ugh god he's such a good character.
