I also mistook the lake for misty ground, which seems to work quite well. Your nature spirit is wonderful, and cute. And for some odd reason its expression reminds me of my puppy.

Tests with watercolors are never pointless, as they can be tricky. While I'm not sure that the lake turned out lake-like (it appears more like blue ground saturated in fog), the spirit turned out well. I love the pose. The spirit seems to be going somewhere very intently. The sweep of the back and leafy arm was done beautifully with varying shades of green. The yellowish-green lump of an arm(?) on the spirit's right side could have been a little clearer, though. My favorite part is the red flower protruding from the spirit's chest. Is its fragile heart always out for the world to see?
Lovely job. Maybe you could use the spirit for a more detailed work later, whether or not you decide to use watercolors.
