Description a dwarf doing what dwarves do best. I kept the background simple so as not to distract from the hot, elemental feel of the scene, though I think if I had to do it over I would have liked to flesh out the dwarven workshop a little more.
Done as one of a series of illustrations for a fantasy RPG guidebook

I love how you are using negative space here.

The last few images I scrolled through: it looks like you are using a mixture of pencil and ink wash?  Unless you are blending that pencil in a very unique way... At any rate, I love the subtlety in your grays.  I am sure the internets do not do this piece justice.

As any student of Fantasy knows for the best goblin-cleavers pay a dwarf! (and pay him PROMPTLY and in FULL for Thingol's sake and your own).

Doing a study of dwarven blacksmiths. In time I'm going to make a small statue of a dwarf.

One of my favorite subjects, do you have the study posted?

Nope. I have a good friend who makes small statues. And I have some books about dwarfs. It's a hobby. Fun thing is that I'm also doiung a selfstudy in silversmith.

very cool, I've always wanted to try silver working (I've done some blacksmithing and worked in steel and brass, but never the finer stuff)
cant wait to see how that statue comes out, post it when finished.

Love it, but...they don't forge them with the hilt on, you know. Just saying for the next ones.

yeah I know, at first i'd drawn the one in his hand like those two in the quenching bath, but i thought some people might not know what they were looking at (the sword's significant in the game)

thanks for the feedback, I always appreciate a sharp eye.

Oh great I understand your reasons! Let's just assume he is making just some fine tunning tough
Very nice series, love all of them.
