Description I think this is a Western Pygmy Blue Butterfly, most likely a subspecies because I live in California. This is one of the tiniest butterflies in the world, so so tiny, I am grateful I saw it while I was outside watering the plants, let alone capture it. I was watching it (while photographing it), it looked like it was cleaning it's wings, and I assume it was soaking in the last of summer's warm sun.

(one day late) Happy first day of Fall/Autumn, everyone! I love this season with the changing colors of everything, the start of cold weather, it is just awesome.

Wow...this is really beautiful, ^^ and the fact that this could actually capture a photo of a Western Pygmy Blue, Brephidium exilis ([link] - [link] - [link] ) one of the smallest butterflies in the world, at least the smallest in the USA, makes this even more special.
Your camera must be really high quality for you to have photographed such a tiny creature, in such high quality.

You're very welcome; it's a really lovely photo and it's a most spectacular wonder to have photoed something that tiny.

(By the way, because I forgot to ask before, what plant did you photograph this Lepidopera on? It looks, just from my amateur opinion of seeing something this close, like Rosemary, but, I have a feeling that is wrong. Nevertheless, it looks like something with need-like leaves...)
