Well, here we are, the third pic in my ongoing quest to add DCAU-style to my repertoire. I did promise an older picture of Mar'i Grayson, aka. Nightstar (Nightwing and Starfire's future daughter, first introduced in the "Kingdom Come" mini-series) and here it is. I admit, I wasn't planning on doing this one right away, but this image of her just got into my head, wrapped itself around my brain and wouldn't let go. So I had to get it out.As you can see, Mar'i looks a lot different than the first time I drew her. In my last pic, I drew her at only three years old, using Starfire's character designs from the Teen Titans animated series as a template, so as to make her look extra cute. Now that's she's grown up in this pic, you can see that she's developed a lot more of her mother's physical attributes (not mention, her notions of modesty).
Anyway, I hope you all like this surprise addition. As always, any comments are greatly appreciated.

Well, she comes from good stock, on her mother's side. Of course, she has her father to thank for the dark hair.^_^

Glad you like the pic. Yeah, I wanted to draw Nightstar in such a way that she is showing to have inherited a lot of her mother's physical characteristics, though obviously younger than Starfire was in the earlier pic. The plan was to show her with that apple-cheeked cuteness that other DCAU teens like Batgirl and Supergirl possessed.
Glad you like her hair, too. Obviously, it's patterned after the Starfire design I made, though naturally with dark hair (what with Dick Grayson being her father and all). That's also why I made the flames blue.^_^

Well, that was definitely the look I was going for here. I purposely made her look a little younger than any of the pics of Starfire that I drew because I wanted her to possess some of that bright-eyed, apple-cheeked cuteness that Supergirl and Batgirl were known for when you saw them in the DCAU.^_^

Oh, I have no doubt. But with her Tamaranian genes granting her enhanced strength and whatnot, Dick might need Starfire to kind of enforce some order. In fact, after the picture was finished and posted, I kind of had developed this scene in my head with Mar'i as a teenager. She's about to go out with some friends and is wearing a particularly slutty club outfit. Dick's kind of given up on trying to get her to dress more modestly, since she's become too much like her mother at this point. But at the same time, he does have other fatherly concerns...
MAR'I: *kisses Dick's cheek* Bye Daddy. Don't wait up.
DICK: Still a school night, Mar'i! You're home by 11:00!
MAR'I: *whines* Aw, Daddyyyy...!
DICK: Don't make me sic your mother on you again!
KORY: *peers out the doorway with glowing eyes* Are we having a disagreement?
MAR'I: *sighs heavily* Fiiiiine...

I can also see Dick smirking at his wife after Mar'i leaves.
Kory: "What?"
Dick: "Nothing...dear..." *shaking his head and trying not to laugh*
Kory: "Why are you..." *Her eyes glow brighter and widen as she realizes what he's thinking* "No! I was never like that when I was her age!"
Dick: "If you say so..."
Kory: "I WASN'T!"

Well, maybe in the cartoon, she wasn't. But in the comics, she sure was.

Glad you like it. I guess it was worth the wait, even though I didn't really keep you waiting long.
I admit, I took a few liberties with her costume. Of course, her top isn't supposed to be see-through. But my inner pervert just had to come out an play and I wanted to see what it would look like (offhand I'd say it works). Besides, I've got to believe that once Mar'i gets older, she'll start adopting some of her mother's conventions about modesty (like the title says, her mother's daughter). Of course, once I made the decision to draw her like this, I had to tweak her costume slightly to make extra sure that it covered up all of her naughty bits. Not that Tamaranians generally believe there are any naughty bits, but oh well...

For the record, in this pic, I actually purposely drew Nightstar younger than I've been drawing Starfire, mostly because I wanted her to have that bright-eyed, apple-cheeked cuteness that Supergirl and Batgirl (from Season 4 of Batman: TAS) brought to the table. Offhand, I'd say it works.
I also touched up this pic just a wee bit. I noticed there was a tiny spot on the top corner of her blouse where I didn't properly shade her hair. I've since taken care of that.

Well, I did, unfortunately. Or fortunately, depending on how you want to look at it. I'm sure it would have only been a matter of time before some observant looker dropped a comment on me. Fortunately, being one tiny little spot, it was a simple enough fix, which was lucky, seeing as how anything changed doesn't quite look right after I do the final re-size on my pics. Not the case here, though.

Well, I suppose of you wanted to get really super technical, you could make an argument about her leg. I just wasn't feeling like getting really super technical when I drew it. I wanted the image that was in my head.
Anyway, glad you liked my effort of translating Nightstar to DCAU-style (I hope you find the pics I've done on Starfire equally good in terms of quality). Actually, I purposely drew Mar'i as looking a little younger than my drawings of Starfire, if for no other reason than I wanted her to possess some of that bright-eyed, apple-cheeked cuteness that Batgirl and Supergirl brought to the table.
