Description Shell Beach / California / Central Coast

This long exposure was taken back in March down below the Palisades park in Shell Beach, just a few yards from the stairs. The sunset had next to no color at all on this night but with an exposure of 50 seconds the subtle blues above the fog are brought out and the motion of the tides are slowed down, making a nice contrast with the rugged foreground.

I absolutely LOVE this little beach!! I have so many wonderful memories of it from the late 60's on

Wonderful how sensors can capture what our eyes can't see

well, it depends on how long you want your exposures to be. An ND8 will get you some longer exposures around sunset and after sunset and is a great filter for those times of day. I use to have the Hoya ND16 which was also great around sunset and after sunset. I think i used that one more than the ND8. But different conditions and different times of shooting call for different filters so its good to have a variety. Lots of my seascapes I used Hoya ND Filters so check em out if you wanna see the kind of results you can get.
