Well, I've had this sitting around for a while. This is the second time I've ever tried digitally painting in a more realistic style (You will never see the first attempt. Never.), and while I'm not entirely happy with how it looks, I think it's time to move on and start something new and perhaps sharpen my technique. Constructive criticism is always welcome!I may or may not have developed an unhealthy obsession with Star Wars? I'm not one of the people who liked Star Wars before TFA; I'm actually one of those people who saw TFA and then got interested in the whole SW universe. What once seemed so nerdy now gives me too many feels. I wonder just how much I've missed out on by being stubborn and refusing to watch this stuff when I was younger... I am super pumped for the Rey/Kylo dynamic that they're setting up! I'm a sucker for in-your-face manifestations of the light/dark conflict, and they'll be the best of enemies ^^ I am rooting for a redemption arc for Kylo, because he's my precious angsty problem child, though, even after... what he did...
In other news, I'm sick! Damn! It's only been two months since my last illness. Curse you, world.

I'm not a kdrama fan, but a lot of people that i follow on Tumblr were raving about it, so I started watching and I fell in love. I also started watching Luke Cage, but alas I've never been a huge fan of the "street" setting (I personally prefer high fantasy and historical settings) so I'm not that into it. Mostly I'm just watching it because Marvel, man. And in my Moon Lovers withdrawal, I started watching another kdrama called Joseon Gunman. This is awful. I have finals to study for, but instead I do this.

Nope, I don't know a lot of kdramas, because I don't really follow korean pop culture very much. Moon Lovers was just an exception, but man it has become the catalyst for a budding interest in the world of kdrama... What's Marriage Not Dating about?

It's about a fake marriage *Here We Go Again!!!* which results in true love between the two parties. And the title is like yeah "I don't want to date just for a while, I date with marriage in mind". The actors are adorable and the soundtrack (songs and background music) is adorable too.

Oh my god, I've become obsessed with the Moon Lovers soundtrack. Just listening to it brings me so many feels and I can't deal. I tried to listen to the soundtrack while doing homework, but it was so distracting because all I could think about was the drama. I think I might start Queen Seon Deok over winter break (any earlier and I won't be able to concentrate on studying for finals), or maybe Iljimae (I have such a soft spot for Lee Jun Ki after Moon Lovers).

It's funny because I pictured Kylo Ren as Magnus is The Falling Kingdoms right away when I started reading them.

Oh yeah, both of them with the dark good looks and tortured souls and snark. They even have matching face scars, to boot (technically, Kylo's is across his face while Magnus's is on his cheek, but close enough). Both of them being my beloved problem children

Finally, you have discovered the wonder of SW! Of course, I was one of the people who grew up with it, haha... Though it had been a while since I'd seen them (however, did rewatch all of them before FA came out!). And I've already told you this, but I love this drawing. 
And, because you want critique, some things that could possibly add to it:
- Use different color lines instead of black. When lazy, I just do some form of brown, but black lines normally take away from a drawing's atmosphere. (For example, you could give Rey blue lines and Kylo red lines here or something.)
- Some more interesting highlights/lighting colors? Adding red and/or blue into shadows and/or highlights could pull the drawing even more together and add some more interest.
- Okay, this isn't a critique, I just really like the way you drew their hair. And clothing. Ahhhhh~
- Maybe another highlight in the eyes? I don't know, but it seems very effective when there's a very high contrast in the eyes. Like Lostie! Let me find the tutorial.
- I just really like this and can't wait to see more SW art.

Haha, thanks! Detailed criticism is always helpful, because I can focus on certain issues. One of these days, I'll figure out how to mix colors and use lighting 
On a side note, it's about a 50/50 toss-up between SW art and YA book art, because while I do drown in SW tumblr goodness, I also read about two books a week. Needless to say, I have a lot of books to draw for... I think number one on my list would probably be the Grisha trilogy (lordie so good but dammit it hurts so much...)

Happy to see new Star Wars fans, those movies have been in my life since I was a little one! Great second attempt with digital painting, you don't want to know what my second attempt looked like...
As a word of advice, if you want to get a more realistic look, out with the lines. Try to use light and color to give shape.
