As much as I and everyone else would love an actual Lightsaber, having a sword made of laser beams would be greatly problematic in terms of our technologies limitations.
But, having a sword that could generate a blade with Hard-light tech seems to be the closest we could get as of now with our current tech.
And funnily enough, this is the same sort of tech one of my factions uses to create a more convenient melee weapon in warfare.

Well, like Howard said, we are limited by technology of our time..
Who knows maybe in the future, or even near future, it would be possible and wouldn't be as greatly problematic as it would be today~..!

Given how our history has changed overall, that is 100% a possibility, if not entirely an inevitability.
I suppose at the end of the day, the real question is: How long till it stops being science fiction and simply becomes science?

Haha.. 'sactly; turning Science Fictions into Science Facts~
That's why imagination is important; Art challenges technology, technology inspires art..!

The last time I tried suggesting to someone that art and fiction inspire technology just as much as technology inspires fiction and art, they said that that was pointless, that asking questions of "what if" doesn't help progress.
I'm glad to see you don't think that way, because I absolutely agree with your statement.

I have a "what if" story..!
Back then when computers were just invented, a student asked his professor:
"What if we could just say it to the machine and it will do it?"
The entire class laughed at him and the professor said that it's impossible..
Well.. now we're living his dream~

Potentially, that student is now somewhere laughing in their home while everyone else who doubted them is just there realizing that they were wrong to laugh.
We are the species that decided to build a rocket to take us to the moon, not for resources, not for spiritual enlightenment and not for any other logical reason. But we did because... why not? And because we wanted to rub it in that we could.

That.. sounds a bit like.. blindness~
No wonder weaponry technologies are super advanced.. people want to be the one "having bigger stick than any other guy"..!
Pffh.. that's dark~
Ah well, for that, I do have different view.. which also the one that answered 'why the universe was created' for me~..!
Don't want this to turn into a long debate, so; peace, I'm out~

I enjoyed this exchange while it lasted.
Take care, and keep dreaming of grander tech. Someday, it'll cease to be a dream, even if you're not there to see it.

I think it's the face that they're so overdesigned is what caught people's attention. Plus out of all the Shadowbolts she's the one that desperately needs SOME kind of character trait! So why not tech girl?
