For my final art project. The painting had to have a theme, so I chose 'accident'. I did my best with the photograph, the lighting is slightly harsh.I decided to explore the different aspects of an “Accident”, how it affects our society and what comes to mind when the word is used. I wanted to illustrate this idea, and explore areas within it such as randomness, timing, and chance. I also wanted to explore how it is used in language with expressions such as “Accident waiting to happen” and “Wrong place at the wrong time”. I kept this topic on my mind for quite some time, and as I thought about how I was going to demonstrate my ideas, I came across an old window frame from my grandparents’ old house. I decided to paint each of the eight panels where the glass used to be. (Some of the glass is still kept in)
Each of the panels explores a different aspect of ‘accident’. I unified my topic and my artwork by reinforcing it with my painting. For example, accidents can be negative, sudden, changing, dynamic, unexpected, and can have a huge impact. I explored all these things in my painting – the entire mood of the painting is a negative one, with foreboding anticipation and dynamic change.

I really like the idea of your window. I had to do a window for my art class but it didn't turn out as cool as yours did. You definatly put more thought into yours than I did. I especially liked the spilled milk section. Its very cool overall!! Great job!!

love how you put all this stories together, love how you played with words and concepts. love the technic, the collage, colours look nice and brilliant. i like how each square has a different composition. great piece of art.

Worth seeing up close in detail. I love the almost-hidden details that you have to look for to see: the face in the rearview mirror in panel two, "domino effect" and "cause & effect" in panel four, the banana peel that looks like a starfish in panel six... It looks a little like the panels on the right side have more text embedded, when opposed to the more strictly visual left side; is this just me or is it intentional? Very well tied-together, anyhow. "Spilled milk" definitely my favorite part.

I never comment on DD's becuase they get swamped with comments, and I rarely favourite DDs, however yours is a huge acception. I find the use of the window really inspiring, something I may want to try with my own art. It looks like it was fun to do! I also love how much thought and effort and care you put into this.
I find the baby really a surprise shock at the end, when you get down to it, and its amazing how it contrasts to the accedent of the baseball kids and the milk. The bananana waiting to happen is funny, too.
I can see the piano pannel being interpreted a few different ways. As a musician, it makes me think of the countless times I've screwed up by making an early or late enterance in a piece.
I'm a little cunfused about the top left pannel, but I can see it as an accedent about to happen, perhaps the two men bump into eachother, or they are enemys and when they turn the corner they'll get in a fight perhaps. A chance meeting perhaps.
Again, thank you for creating a piece of art that makes the viewer think. I hope you get a fantastic grade on this from your professor!

The window was a lot of fun to work with, found objects are really good for inspiring you to do something. I highly suggest it. 
The beginning one is supposed to look something like those convex mirrors that help you see around corners. Perhaps that will help you understand it better.

I got the idea for the piano panel from cartoons, you know, where a villan always drops something like a grand piano or anvil on the main character. It made me think of the phrase 'wrong place at the wrong time' and I wanted to explore how much of a difference a split second can make.
