I bet I can tell you why this works better without seeing your original. In this pic, the focus of attention is clearly on the girl- not as much on her surroundings. That's what you want- unless you were doing a pic about a trailer park. The pose and her expression are both good on this and really help to sell her attitude. You made a good choice.

You're right. In the original, you could see scraggly grass and empty beer bottles, which played up the "trash" aspect, but like you said, the focus should be on the girl. Thanks!
