Monarch Butterflies (Danaus plexippus) eat a steady diet of milkweed when they are caterpillars which makes them poisonous to predators.
So yeah, i have decided to do at least a few butterfly and moth fairies. I hate series, i tend to lose interest quickly. But i have always loved monarch butterflies and there are a few others that i am currently working on...so i guess that makes it a series. I had a really fun time with the colour scheme on this one. I was worried how i would make orange look good, i'm not a big fan of orange in general. But ~tlagrange has been helping me out with colour theory and i think i am improving somewhat (hopefully!).

I looooooove the fantasy theme of your gallery. Your fairies remind me a little of Amy Brown's art.
And with this one... you've pulled off an almost delicate, stained glass feel with her wings. The contrast in colors is eye catching without being glaring. Beautiful work.

Ooh, so pretty! I love the colors, the orange makes a nice sort of contrast with the pale blue-greenish-ness. And the creepy fingers are snazzy.

Beautiful contrast between those vivid oranges and subdued blue hues. The two corner boarders work well by mimicing the black patterns in the monarch's wings.

You used the colors so beautifully. All the blues and oranges are so soft and seem to reflect each other. I love her dark fingernails. She seems a proud butterfly!

Wow, thank you! I used to want to be a comic artist. But I realized many years ago that comic art requires quite a few skills that I am just not very proficient at. It also raised my respect for comic artists even higher than it already was
