I really loved that meme of the distracted boyfriend and wanted to try doing my own version with Spider-man. As implied in the image, there are lots of images that i would like to draw for fun but that i know would not get much attention. I often feel like i need to be sure that my gallery has certain characters for people to enjoy; characters that i ought to draw even if i would rather not. Add into the mix the demand for popular characters whenever a new movie comes out and i often feel like i'm bouncing from one marketable image to another until i can finally work on my passion projects. All that said, i'm just happy to be able to draw at all.

Why not both?
You can make two diffrent art names, if you don't want the smut influencing your other page or have the stuff you want to draw get rid of your current fanbase.

Gotta pay them bills, and it's harder to do both because of the time investment, and the closer to NSFW you get, the more money you tend to earn. Getting rid of that fanbase is like cutting out half of your pay cheque

There are some artists on Youtube who talk about overcoming this sort of problem. I've never watch the videos, but they've come up in my feed.
I also can suggest trying out a seasonal job.
I recently did one, that gave me enough money, to not have to work this fall or winter. I still did art while working the seasonal job, but now I have a lot more free time to get better at art.
I don't know if you have the time to pull that off, but that's my best suggestion, right now. Still an amateur artist, so I'd check out the videos. lol
I definitely am a happier person, now that I'm doing what I want, instead of trying to be what I assumed was realistic. It was a weird change, but stuff eventually started falling into place and my days had a lot more meaning. Sometimes I worry about the future, but I know I'm worse off not going down the road I want. Not that I'd suffer financially or physically for it. I'd just go back to having some days just being days...and I'm sorta addicted to this grind of getting to the place I want to be. It's also helped me grow a lot as a person. This might make me sound like an jackass, but it's like everyday, I'm growing more and more into the man I want to be.
Hopefully that guy will be a lot more concise with what he has to say.
