Description A Trail Carbine is defined as "A Semi-Automatic Firearm chambered in a variant of .300, 5.56x45 or 7.62x39 rounds that can engage a target at ranges of up to and including 500 yards with a barrel that does not fall under 16 inches or above 18 and comes in at 12.5 pounds or below."

Trail Carbines are somewhat of a new concept. I came up with them and some other Variants of Trail weapons very recently while working on my own rifle. Trail Weapons, and the idea behind them, is fairly straight forward. Have a rifle that can take a target at extreme ranges while being light enough to carry for erroneous distances if need be. With what you'll be doing with one should the need arise to use it for what it was assembled for, any Trail Carbine, Rifle or Shotgun has to be assembled with your bug out plan in mind, as it will dictate what parts you use to build it. Where are you starting from, where will you end up? What will the climate be like, what threats will you face, what game could you need to hunt, could less than desirable people become a problem? Consider every variable and pick out parts that will play in favor of your strengths and weaknesses as an individual.

Obviously, the list of exact parts chosen will vary by the individual and how you chose to build a Trail weapon ultimately comes down to personal preference. Here is what I had in mind when the concept of these weapons first came to head. Also note that this list is with the Armalite Rifle Platform in mind only, more will come later on how to assemble various other platforms into Trail Rifles.
