Haven't posted anything in aaaages so I thought I'd finish this off. It's a concept for a story me and my girlfriend are playing around with (when we get the time!). It started out as a rough pencil sketch which was then scanned in and given the photoshop make-over.The result of an intense space battle between two factions has rendered a once beautiful planet a complete wasteland. The debris from the war floats in the sky, orbiting the world and chunks of shrapnel constantly fall from space. Meanwhile machines wander the land- still fighting a war that ended years ago.
In the midst of this madness a girl makes her way across this hostile world with only her War Hound - Jack- for company.
Took some inspiration from Half Life's DOG, 'cos he's so cool.

That's awesome. I'm a fan of mechs, or at least the concept of mechs, in general, but this is pretty cool. You can definitely see the DOG influence in this picture, but that's not really a bad thing. Espically when Half-Life 2 is my favorite game. Ever think of maybe trying to draw something more along the lines of Steel Battalion? Slow moving 70 story tall walking tank of death? XD Very nice, I like it.

Thanks a lot, fella. Funny you should mention Steel Battalion because I've got a picture of one of the mechs on my board (I have a board in front of my PC with cool reference pics on it).
As for giant, walking death tanks- that's something I'd totally like to do at some point.

I definitely like mech designs of this style. It's not that I don't like all the Battletech/ Robotech/ Armored Core/ Front Mission stuff, it's just that it's cool to get something different every once in a while.

I'm kind of picky about the mechs I like- I love the more believable, heavy duty style mechs- what I hate is when they start zipping around like they weigh the same as your average cheer leader- smacking up tanks with swords. The Armored Core mech's look badass though.

Looking good! I really like how you make your level of detail in a way that changes the focal point. Apart from DOG, do I spy some Tau tech, by any chance? By the way, that cannon on its back, is it fired by the walker or by the girl?

Good call on the Tau influence- 'cos I see your point. But no, I didn't look into any Warhammer related stuff (I don't know anything about Warhammer... heck I only knew what the Tau were due to a friend showing me a few pictures of them a ear or so back!). His head actually started off looking like the Geth from Mass Effect so I tried to roughen it up and make it look more angular... and now he looks a bit Tau-y. lol
