Description Based on the image for the original Fallout Equestria. Can't quite remember where I found it.

This is for my fic that I've started. At the time of writing I've already got 6 chapters.

It's called Fallout Equestria: The Rangers and can be found here: [link]

Phew, was worried you made a Steel Ranger story for a second there. I'll be sure to read your fic.

It was originally gonna be Fallout Equestria: The Stable Rangers, but that doesn't have the same ring to it. Also I plan on the two getting confused a few times anyways.

I hope you like it.

I was only worried cause I thought I'd lose my unique edge i.e, having a Steel Ranger Protagonist ^^. Definitely check out your story as soon as I am up to date with the other stories I'm following.

If it's any consolation, at some point Steel Rangers may or may not be the villains of my story.

Oh no, dood. You don't need to do that. Just include the factions you want to include.

To be honest, the only ones that would make sense as the villains would be the Steel Rangers or Red Eyes. Red Eyes is the obvious choice, but the Steel Rangers are far from above reproach. I could possibly use the Changlings, but we don't know enough about them for me to accurately portray them.

So it'll probably end up being either of the first two. I could end up using Red Eye because I could do much more terrible things with him.

Well you could, but you might disservice the character. What I mean is that if you portray him directly as being some overlord then you would be doing Red Eye a major disservice. He's more like a combination of Ashur (Fallout 3 - The Pitt), Lou (Fallout 2) and John Henry Eden (Fallout 3). Now if you wanted to portray a subordinate, like someone leading slave raids, that would be fine, since they come in all shapes and varieties.

As for Steel Rangers, well they already have a pretty negative reputation already. You could go the Heroes route and have some varying degrees of nasty or indifference all the way up to homicidal maniac, like the new Elder in that story. You could portray them like the ones in Hoofington in Project Horizons, some of them are actually alright and some of them are dicks. You could portray them as actively doing good in an area like in my story where the three Rangers are trying to rebuild their chapter from scratch and do some good along the way. The Rangers could be all that's keeping the tense peace in a region, forced into a stalemate/treaty with two or more factions (Excluding Red Eye, he doesn't negotiate with Rangers.)

As for Changelings, I think they are individuals who were ruled by Queen Chrysalis. I don't think she gave birth to all the Changelings but is more a powerful matriarch/queen. I think Changelings survived, either by infiltrating Stables and having their own stables built. It would be a good way for the Ministry of Image to use Changelings and partly reward them, perhaps they were making a drug to help Changeling's cope with their need for love. It might be better to avoid using Changelings and maybe use another faction, like Talon Mercenaries or maybe a fledgling nation/alliance of towns.

I might not portray him directly; my story wouldn't have a very satisfying ending if the bad guy got away scott free. Maybe a subordinate trying to suck up to him, or a rival trying to get the upper hand. (My story takes place about a decade before Littlepips story)

As for why it has to be one of those two groups. Without giving too much away, let's just say that the villain has to be both tech savvy and have the ability to use it effectively. I'm leaning towards the Red Eyes camp because the Steel Rangers don't seem to be in the habit of using their collected tech the way it's being used in my story, but it's right up Red Eye's alley.

I agree with your assessment of the changelings. It's almost exactly what I was talking about when I'd been discussing the subject with one of Sombers editors. Although I insinuated that they were more like bees or xenomorphs and were just supremely whipped. I hadn't considered using drugs though. I figured they'd be fed like pet vampires and given ponies, but that could have been problematic.

Supplying the Changelings with ponies to feed on would've been disastrous for Morale. It isn't out of the realm of possibility for them to have allied partially with Equestria, depending on what you consider canon in the Fallout: Equestria multiverse that is. For instance, in some stories, Caledonia, the setting of Heroes was an ally of Equestria and has had problems with the Minotaur since before the war. The Diamond Dogs and Highlanders in Project Horizons got dragged into the war supporting Equestria + the Batponies were a unique breed of Pegasi loyal to Luna/Nightmare Moon and I bet by the end of season 3, someone will have had the Crystal Ponies allied with the Zebra or Equestrians.

Don't forget the slimeponies and the seaponies. I always got the impression when I read the main stories that it was equestria vs everyone else with some exceptions. I don't know why, but that's just the image I got stuck in my head. Hopefully somebody will take all the major stories and work it into some kind of believable canon.

I think the best way to think of it is everypony vs everyzebra with a few exceptions. You had Equestria working on science/magical projects all across the kingdom, trying to find a way to win the war or help in the war effort. I imagine Equestria was an empire on its own, but was also aided by Caledonia a neighbouring kingdom and maintained peace with the Buffalo who were neutral and took no part in the war. You also had Dragons who fought for the zebra and Griffons who fought for both sides.

Then you had factions who were a threat to Equestria such as The Changelings who were just as divided on who to support, some fighting against their old equestrian enemies and others joining them. Both sides employing Changelings as spies and assassins, adding a new level of complexity to an already tense situation. Then you had all the little guys who got dragged into the war, small groups like Diamond Dogs, Highlanders & Batponies.

That's without going too in-depth anyway, but thats how I see the war in broad terms.
